I would have thought that they would be pretty similar but I have had more success in the past with lacto b than with other powders.

Any live natural yogurt will do.  I eat a lot of natural yogurt and always let them lick the carton out  ;)

I think they are different bacterias but there are probably millions (literally!) of different types so would be a surprise for any two products to have the same combo.

I didn't give Riley the Activia in the end as he seemed to clear up on his own (touch wood!) but as it's readily available and inexpensive (the massive pot I bought was £1.10 from Morrisons) then it's worth a go first. Double check with your vet but DM gave Ripley a teaspoon a few times a day, it's the 'natural' one and is often near the greek yoghurts in supermarkets.

Do most probiotic powders contain similar enzymes? Just wondering as the cost of powders seem to vary greatly. Is it all the same stuff that goes into Activa yogs?

I would start using some lacto_B, a probiotic powder , works wonders here

Mosi has had tummy troubles recently too - just soft poos for a few weeks.  He has also had fleas so I don't know if that's been a factor.  After frontline and drontal, he still had the soft poos but I hadn't sprayed the flat.  I did that about 10 days ago and at the weekend I put him on a diet of only encore dry and wet (he usually has a variety of wet foods with a little dry sprinkled on top), fed separately.  Finally his poos seem back to normal.

Hmmn, I wouldn't have thought spiders would cause tummy troubles. More likely to be mice but could also just be 'one of those things'. I've had great success with probiotics in the past.

Aw, thanks :)

Two of the three seem to be fine now. So frustrated really as all three had recovered and were good for about five days and then we had a relapse.

I'm not 100% sure who it is with the dicky tummy but the two suspects have unfortunately been eating spiders all this week  Despite hating spiders I am not encouraging this at all. I wonder if spiders can cause the runs?

Although I've not seen any evidence of mice in the kitchen I wouldn't be too suprised if there are some as we live right next to fields and there was quite a commotion when one of the kittens got in an empty kitchen upboard yesterday. So perhaps that could be a source of trouble?

Am popping to the vets later to collect some supplies so will have a chat then.

Hope Riley's still on the mend :)

Sorry to hear your little ones have had tummy troubles, it might be asking your vet about probiotics to get the tummy back in balance bacteria-wise. I know Daisymac's vet suggested natural plain activia yoghurt as a probiotic, you can also buy pet powder probiotics so worth mentioning them and see if he/she agrees.

No idea about the other stuff I'm afraid as I never did get him to eat it! Hope your little ones are back to normal soon enough

Just stumbled across this thread whilst looking for some RC Sensitivity info.

First up though, I'm so glad to hear that you're gorgeous little fella is feeling well again  :Luv2:

My three were put on RC Sens. wet last week by the vet to clear up diarrhea. Thankfully it worked well and 48 hours after everything was back to normal. Unfortunately we had a set back yesterday as I gave them a small handful of biscuits  and I'm wondering if those who have used RC Sensitivity can help me on the following:

How should you 'taper off' the pouches and what to go onto?

What's the best online price for pouches of the wet and bags of the dry?

I really don't want to have to carry on for good with the wet stuff as it's very expensive but it seems like it'll be worth having some in for upset tums.

Thanks all. And big  to Riley.

Hi Helen,

Glad hes feeling better, ;D if the pictures anything to go by you would never know he had been poorly. Love the card by the way I should have got one for Leo as he managed to scratch one of the nurses eye lids  it swelled up lovely just like a black eye. I did take some chocolates though to help take her mind off it :)

:thanks: all

OK, this may be too much info for some....
but he just did a small, but perfectly formed, poo  :wooooo: :chicken:
I share your joy.  Mosi has had soft poos for a while and last night he did a lovely firm one  ;D  Be grateful I didn't take a photo and post it on here!

:thanks: Liz & JS, I know this thread reads like a minute by minute diary of his every move but it's really helped to be able to put it all down as I was so worried and the support has been great

They are just going to love the card at vet practice Helen  :)  I always get our vets some posh biccies and a card at Christmas.  It's really touching how surprised and grateful they are  :)

Can't tell you how relieved I am that his highness is so much better  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

I hope they like it, I know they were only doing their job but seeing how he was behaving - hissing wildly at anyone who dared walk past his kennel - and then hearing them talk about him tenderly and one particular nurse described how the next morning Riley licked a bit of food from her finger. There's no way I would have put my hand in the pen if I was her (he was obviosuly fine with me stroking him in there but if I was her I would have quickly slid a bowl in and legged it!). You've just given me an idea and I think I might get her some chocs too  :)

so pleased such a handsome young man is very nearly back to his normal self

what's the verdict then, Helen? just some bug he picked up from who knows where?

Yep, no idea really! Gastritis of unknown origin, the vet said we can bring things in on our shoes or it might have been something a bird dropped in the garden. When I first found him he was completely listless, my heart was pounding as I thought the worst  Strange that Lu didn't get anything though  :shify:

Here's the main man half an hour ago on his new bed (my slanket :tired::) Such a change from 24 hours ago  :)

Glad Riley is feeling better! It must be such a relief for you!  ;D

An overwhelming relief  :) I'm such a worrier and at one stage honestly thought he might not make it  :(

He's been on the computer tonight and has spent his pocket money on this personalised moonpig card for the vets, he wasn't very nice to the nurses that looked after him when he stayed so it's the least he can do  :naughty:

Just wanted to say a big  :thanks: to everyone who posted and was thinking of Riley, I was so worried about him and it really helped to know that others were thinking of him and sending positive vibes

He's just had another snack of chicken breast, he lost 300g in just a few days so need to build him back up and restore him to his former hunky-glory  :Luv: No runny poo today either so fingers crossed, I have some Activia (thanks DM  :)) on standby if he does though.
