Well she had one shot then we had to go back 3 days later for another. She seemed completely fine after the first shot but it's started again yesterday, and with a pink tinge to the litter, so Im guessing thats blood? I just dont understand why there would be blood in it this time?

Forgot to say.....she weighs 5.4kg and she is a small framed cat, the vet has said not to let her have dry food, which I have been managing to do. She's just sneaky and jumps on the top when Im not there, the dry food gets put away now when the others are finished  :shy:

Panic over, phoned the vets and he said it sounds like cistitis so tomorrow should be fine. She's ok in herself just a little bit quiet  :)

Going to emphasis the fact I think she has inflammation rather than a blockage and will just need a little jab   (I realise I put too much emphasis on the 'B' term which is highly unlikely in little Tia

Boys are more likely to get blocked bladders (crystals fall into the Urethra and block it so the bladder just fills up and can't empty then toxins built up. it's a life threatening condition if not treated in a timely manner). It's rare for girls to have it due to their biology, although not impossible.

Could you not pop her to the vet today. Whatever it is (UTI/Constipation) she's probably feeling really uncomfortable- if it's a UTI the vet will give her a little jab which should make her feel a lot more comfortable. I would be concerned that there is always a chance she has blocked (if she's trying to go but isn't producing anything) and it really needs vet treatment asap as it is life threatening.

I'm not trying to scare you or anything, I just get a tad paranoid with bladder problems since Memphis' incident  :scared:

She could also have the runs if she's constipated.

I would say vet today - just to be safe.

I've just read it's worse for the boy's Den, and there more likely to catch it than females.

Litter tray has been left empty and just some paper put in it, I really hope it's not a UTI.  Like I said she does massive poops (dog sized  ) and I havent seen or smelt one of those for a few days, come to think of it I think she had a bit of the runs this morning.

Poor Tia

Hope she gets better soon

Dexter had constipation when we first got him. We had only had him a few weeks and he became really down and lethargic, and couldnt seem to poop, although he was eating, drinking weeing fine. We found that adding more water to his meals, either as white fish poached in water/ or just water added to his dry food sorted him out within a day or two and since we have started adding wet food/water to his meals we have never had this problem again.

Poor little Tia  :'(

It sounds like she could have a UTI. Part of what you describe is similar to how Memphis was acting when he had his bladder problem. Lots of licking and going to the tray. I have no idea of the cost though as his bill got lumped together .. he had blocked bladder, constipation and UTI

As for Constipation if she will let you feel her tum, you should be able to feel that it's rather firm if she's constipated. It's easy to treat, my vets gave Memphis something called Lax a past which is pretty much the same as Katalax - just a hairball paste. I had to give Memphy some in his food every day until he started pooping and it was coming out normal. Took about 5 days to get his bowels back to normal.

Hope little Tia is back to normal soon

Tia is having litter tray problems
« Reply #1 on: July 06, 2010, 11:20:38 AM »
She is fine in herself but since Sunday night she has been going to the litter tray quite a bit and just sitting there for a couple of mins  :-: Now Im not sure if she is trying to wee or poo- Tia does massive poops and I haven't seen one of those for a few days. I am going to put the litter box down empty to see if she is having a wee. She doesn't seem to be in any pain tho but is licking her underparts- again I dont know if it's her mini or her bum.

If she is weeing I would be guessing that she is constipated? and if she is, is it ok to try canned fish in olive oil? What would the vet to for constipation?

Does anyone know of a rough cost of the meds if she's got a UTI?

Im going to the vets tomorrow with Ollie so I think Tia will be comming too  :)
