It definitely does get easier, altough never goes away completely  :shy:

I lost my boy Max in July last year, and I can definitely think about all the good times now and laugh and smile, rather than cry every time, but I do still shed tears here and there, and as you say, its things which catch you unawares.  But treasure those thoughts as it means they're still with you

:welcome: to Purrs Sue, sorry it's under such sad circumstances

I know it seems hard to believe it now but it does get easier with time, the sad thoughts and 'what ifs' are gradually replaced by happy thoughts and remembering your time together fondly

Remember Our Love

I was chosen that day
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry

And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone

When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.

Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me.

It's always the little things, Sue.  The sum of the parts being greater than the whole and all that.   But its exactly those things that turn into treasured memories when eventually the pain begins to recede, and you look back less with tears and more with joy that she graced your life.   A very special cat.

Ebby has wonderful taste in bags, clearly - that shade of green is very "this season"  ;) ;D

Thank you the warm welcome.  It's good to be around people that know what I'm going through.  I miss my lil Tinker soooo much.  It's the little things that get me.  That catch me unawares.  Like yesterday I forgot for a minute and expected to see her in her special spot on the stairs.   Here are a couple more pics of Tinker and Ebby.  Crazy Ebby loves to lay on things.  Especially bags.

Hello Sue.  Welcome to Purrs    :welcome:   Am so sorry the circumstances in which you found us have been such sad ones for you.

Tinker is such a beautiful cat.  She's a testimony to you that you loved and cared for her so well that you got her to a very respectable old age.

Ebby looks like a right little character too - what a gorgeous pink tongue.  ;D  It complements Tinker's adorable pink nose.

Thinking about you and sending lots of Prrrrfffpppts from my resident old Codger, Paddy (19 - see avatar left for piccie)  :)

Hi.  My name is Sue.  I found the link to your home via another message board.  I did have two cats.  Both 15yr old girls called Tinker and Ebony.  Or Ebby as we call her.  Sadly Tinker had been ill with cancer,  and I woke up Sunday to find she'd died.

This is Tinker.

And this is Ebby.
