I thought Therese would post but she must be really busy. I received this update last week:

Lily-P is doing fine.....i agree she is really a lovely little girl. She now mixes with my other cats and she loves them to pieces but she is definately the one in charge. She is a little pig when it comes to dinner time so i am having to keep an eye on her as she is getting a little bit round. On a more serious level, weight gain will not help her mobility so i am trying to feed her sensibly. She is also enjoying the garden under strict supervision and loves lying in the flowerbed.
Thank you for giving Lily-P that chance at a normal life and the lovely people who helped transport her to me.
Please keep up the fantastic work you are doing.

 :Luv:

I know. It happens from time to time that I feel my resolve and practicality softening - definitely happened with this girl. But if I'm honest not only would I not have been able to afford it, I'm having a rough time with Mog at the moment.

Sweet little thing, by all accounts I'm told. :)

Well, I called the vet myself and this lady sounds wonderful. They had nothing but good things to say about her and apparently she has endless patience and has a cat with a similar condition to Pumpkin already.

Now to sort out transport - it may be the lady that has Pumpkin is doing the run herself.

Nope. Transport run needed....

Was just about to update actually! Just got an email stating that although she has had a CP home check she's more than happy to let us get a vet reference and has already let them know we'll be calling. She's sent me the address and phone number so I can get in touch with them this week. ;)

Is the potential home near Nicky?

I'm not entirely sure about costs, CC but I wouldn't imagine it would be a small undertaking. I think she'd benefit from some form of physio and that's not likely to be cheap. On the plus side, I'm told she has definitely shown signs of improvement and while it's not thought she'll ever "function normally" she does have the potential to improve.

A fosterer isn't really the ideal solution long term as Nicky is utterly over-run at the moment and as you say, she needs to rehome so she can take more on. I think she also feels that Pumpkin should have a chance at as close to a normal life as possible in a forever home.

No, the condition is not CH. They aren't 100% sure what's wrong with Pumpkin.

I'm not sure what things could go wrong with regards to leading up to her needing a vet, but if this home that is a potential works out the lady in question has three other special needs cats and has passed a CP home check, so we'd get a vet reference and take it from there.

Janey, I agree. The number of times this little one has seen a vet I'd hope they'd comment if anything looked awry in that area.

Re the eyes, I wonder whether it's just the photo ie because of the brightness of the camera and because the cat is looking upwards.   I don't know but you would think those caring for Pumpkin/the vet would have noticed if there was anything strange?

What are the possible vets costs a month for this little one? And things that she may need doing/ may go wrong with her leading upto needing a vet? Just thought if they were put here, a rough estimate, then people would know what to expect  :)

Could a sponser be sorted out for her if she is to stay with her foster? as you say Nicky cannot cover all the vets costs, or is she needing to be homed to free up space?

Is this the same condition that Teresa's Minimopsicle has?

Good luck - I agree with MM about her eyes, they do look slightly odd

OK, MM and Desley - possibilities so I can ask Nicky if she's been tested for them. ;) Better to let someone know beforehand.

CC, I can see that actually. :care:

Nicky can't afford to do that unfortunately, Liz. The poor girl is already owing to the vets she works at for her rescue work! I know she would if she could, though.

If OH wasn't goping to be working away we would consider her but on my own with the current crew, the outside mob and the dogs oh and a full time job maybe not the best time but she is so  :Luv2:

I couldn't give her the time she needs with all of the above but she would have a happy home - are they going to offer help with vets fees etc may help the right home come along a bit quicker

Me too. I've publicised this little girl a lot today; on here, on the Blackpool Cats in Care site, on CatChat, on Facebook via the group....I've also contacted the local newspaper for Nicky to see if they'd run an article on her. Hopefully we'll find just the right home for her.

Liz, for the right home I think Nicky would be prepared to let her travel. Poor Pumpkin has been adopted but brought back again and we're pretty worried that most people will see her as too much of a challenge.

If we were closer our lot would accept her she is just so  :Luv2: - we have various litter trays in use and also the bidet and shower are also used - what she needs is her own wetroom type area then no aggro and easy to clean
