That's a nice thought Liz. Maybe i should just bid items up then leave someone else to pay for them ;) :evillaugh: Oh wait. I did that last year and ended up winning quite a few things. Well, if they are not moving too rapidly, I promise to only bid on teeny tiny things that will cost next to nowt to post. Of course, I have the fiendish advantage of being on a different time zone so all manner of nasty things could happen :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Hobbes has agreed that he will donate his Panic Mouse that his meowmy fought so hard for last year and which he has studiously ignored ever since she first put it together  Dylan is having a think as to what he can donate but is sure he can come up with something  ;D As they are both rescue boys they want to do what they can to help those cats less fortunate than themselves.  :Luv2:

I'll will hopefully be able to add some things to the auction this year, I have a few cat themed items that are stuffed in a closet that someone may enjoy!

Though the cookie jar has always stumped me on how to package it!

Always a good cause! (yikes, only 90 odd days till the big C!)

You may see a mention on one of Teresas threads about a name from the auction, thinks its Charlie near the bottom.

You might wonder why a name from the auction, its because in the last two auctions have had a place where you can sponsor a name for  a cat at the rescue who the auction is for. Usually we end up with a lovely long list at a £1 a name so if you cant afford some of the vicious bidding that goes on, it gives a place where you can put your pound  ;D

In the auction every little helps and at the end of the auction it all adds up and nobody need to be ashamed that they can only give a £1, every £1 counts so much  ;D

Misa says he would donate his fishy at the top of the stairs (but it just is too awful to attempt to auction).

Its a dirty browny green, well licked and chewed and is still damp from a couple of nights ago when It was thoughly soaked by a Misaman.....so generous dont you think as he obviously loves it so much  ;D

I've just had a long sit down chat with the boys and they have agreed to give up their mint condition, used for less than 10 minutes, racing car bed that I fought so hard for in the last auction  :innocent:

They were visibly misty eyed when I was explaining about the poor little cats that didn't have homes and how that if they donated their bed it would help the chosen rescue look after another little cat until he/she found their forever home :wish:

Chattin' about.... PURRS CHRISTMAS AUCTION 2009....ANNOUNCEMENT
« Reply #1 on: September 22, 2009, 20:51:42 PM »
:birth 2: :pressie: :birth 2: :pressie: :birth 2: :pressie: :birth 2: :pressie: :birth 2: :pressie: :birth 2: :pressie: :birth 2: :pressie:

Wait, don't pelt me with rotten tomatoes just yet  :evillaugh: I know it's early to mention the Chr*****s word   :shoosh: but it's all in a good cause  :wow:

For those new to Purrs here's a bit of background... Purrs the forum began very hastily in November 2006 as a result of CatChat having to close it's forum for a time - Tan and her OH, Chappie, got this site up and running within hours *insert halo icon*  Gill and Tan had been planning a Christmas auction in aid of Ron's rescue at LostCatsBrighton and the small matter of not having a forum to host it wasn't going to stop them  :sneaky: And so began the Purrs Annual Christmas Auction (PACA - just made that up  :evillaugh:) in aid of a registered rescue on Purrs. Gill puts a huge amount of time and effort into the auctions every year to ensure they run like a precision watch and I'm sure this year will be no exception  :)

The Purrs Annual Christmas Auction (PACA :evillaugh:) has gone from strength to strength, despite these tough times we find ourselves in, and we really will have a hard job beating last years amazing total.

The 2006 auction raised

The final figure raised is..............     £1656.50

for Ron's LostCatsBrighton rescue.

The 2007 auction raised

GRAND TOTAL THIS YEAR IS               £1836.35

for Lesley's Eight Lives Left Cat & Kitten Rescue.

Last year's (2008) auction raised

TOTAL   2099.94
Plus any extra donation and round ups, less paypal fees

for Teresa's Paws Inn rescue.

Now, more specific info will be posted closer to the time but basically it works like this:

If you have anything in your home that is postable, that you think another Purrs member would like, and more importantly would be prepared to bid on and pay for then it can go in the auction  :wow:

The person who is donating the item also pays the postage to send the item directly to the winning bidder but here's the good bit (did Gill used to sell timeshares?  :sneaky:)... the winning bidder also pays the postage price added to their winning bid to Purrs and this all gets dished out to the chosen rescue :wow:

We've had some fantastic items donated over the years and absolutely everything is gratefully received - even down to a single teeny tiny mousey toy  :)

Bidding can be fierce at times so this is not for the faint hearted  :naughty:

Here's just a few examples of the many (over 170) items in last years 2008 auction - everything from super cool cat toys, beds, books, luxury cards, mugs - the list is endless.

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,20115.0.html

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,20125.0.html

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,20390.0.html

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,20385.0.html

The whole 2008 auction board can be found here: http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/board,88.0.html

Specific details will be announced by Gill closer to the time but the auction will begin around the 3rd week in November and will run for two weeks, so plenty of time to get the items in the post and to their new homes before Christmas.

That gives us all plenty of time to get together some bits and bobs to pop in the auction and to wrestle with ourselves about things we want to keep but know should go in the auction  :naughty:

Phew.... Any questions, thoughts, comments then chat away
  :wow:
