It may give you the willies but the cats get worms (and fleas)  which in worse than the willies, simply because people 'bother to flea and worm on a regular basis or use the treatments available in pet shops and Supermarkets which are as much uses as a chocolate teapot.

yes it could just have been a few segments vomited in which case the rest of it would still keep growing. This reminds me I need to worm my two . :doh:

Iv seen vomited tapeworm before, only the once, it came out whole? ? :sick:

I agree that to know whereAndrew lives is the first thing to know, Secondly a wormer that needs to be given a month after the first would not in this country be thought of as a good quality treatment. More like one that can be purchased over a shop counter and as much use as a chocolate teapot.

What did the worm look like? It sounds more like a roundworm to me rather than tapeworm, the vet gave me Milbemax for my cat with worms, it seems to have done the job.

Where are you Andewwwww cos if you are in the States you may use differing makes to us, I not heard of tradewinds.

Like lynn say what did the worms look like cos there is a different kind of worm and will need a different traetment I think

andrew are you very sure it was a tapeworm ?? can you describe it ???

cats rarely vomit tapeworm, actually ive never seen a cat vomit tapeworm.

round worms are the normal culprits.

either way i recommend worming every 3 wks with drontal for a few months .

One of our cats vomited up a tape worm.  Within a week I gave all our cats Tradewinds, Tape Worm Tabs, praziquantel - then after a week of giving them a pill, another cat also vomited a 6 inch tapeworm.

I wonder does that mean I need to find a new tape worm medication?  This medication is supposed to be 100% effective for both types of tapeworms.  Should I just give an additional dose 30 days later?  After phoning the company they said a second treatment could be needed if the cat reinfected itself.  Yet if it did, could that tape worm grow to be 6 inches in just one week???  My guess is this worm survived the treatment.  Therefore I wonder if I should go with something stronger or different?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
