just a quick piccie for you of joey after brekkie this am.  not best quality as it was a phone pic but you can see how cosy he is and can actually curl up and be 'normal' instead of hovering.  will get better one's later today.

Great news Sarah - sounds like he is "over the hump" now  :Luv2:

I saw site about promoting healing after dentals and wonder if it might help him as well.

"You can also give CoQ10 to assist with healing...10 mg daily as well as Ester C...100 mg twice a day."

Apparently, Ester C is a bolstered vitamin C that stays in the immune system for 24 hours - it is also pH neutral so doesn't upset the stomach. I don't suppose many vets are up on these type of complementary treatment though.

Also I'm sure viacutan or similar would help his skin heal.

Sorry I didn't put a fuller update earlier.  Was rushing around.

Joey is doing fine this morning bless him :Luv2:   Up on his wee rocky feet to meet us and screaming for brekkie as always.  he ate his brekkie and has had a pett this morning although would have you sit there all day with him and we would if we could as he is such a little darling.

He is loving his new bed and is actually curling up to have a sleep now so is definately relaxing and the pain in his skin is lessening I would say.  He is still sore but I'd say mainly on his legs for the moment and along his shoulder blades and neck.  His open sores have now started to dry out adn are scabbing over which we are so relieved about and is certainly making us wonder if this is an immune system response as he does seem to be responding well to the steroids.  I suppose only time will tell.

He is very much enjoying company and petts, just wish we had more time to spend with him in one go.... but we do the best we can and I pop in and out to speak to him throughout the day and make sure he is ok.

He just looks so pitiful when he looks at you and has this cute little head tilt thing going, that kittens do, that just makes him look SO adorable and you feel like you just want to scoop him up and give him the biggest cuddle ever.   :Luv2: :Luv2: ;D

Paul has collected the recovery food this morning so hopefully that will start to make a difference too.  He is just so fragile at the moment and you are terrified to lift him as he is just skin and bone and we are always so afraid of hurting him.   I think as much as we try to stay 'unattached' to Joey its really not happening as he has such a big personality and it is so hard to not get hopes up when they are improving.  I just hope and pray that he is strong enough to get through all this and that things on the inside are healing as they are outside.  :wish:  :wish:

Feed him first LOL

   that is us feeding him first!!!   lol   he is such a poor soul when it comes to food but then I suppose he has probably gone so long without any he's desperate in case he won't get anything.

He got a lovely gift today from my friend Caroline who had a big thick comfy bed (even if it was pink!!)  She brought it down for him to lay on to try and cushion the sores on his legs and once he got used to it did curl himself up into a cosy little ball and go off to the land of nodd very peacefully this afternoon and evening.  So, I would say despite the colour it got his approval! lol

He has eaten his dinner and his skin is looking much less inflamed.  If appearance from a skin point of view is anything to go by then he is doing well and his skin is really settling down.  Just have to hope that everything on the inside is the same.   :wish:

All we can do is see what tomorrow will bring for this wee fella.  His eyes and nose have cleared up a lot too which is a great sign and his sores are starting to dry out and scab over.  He has also spent quite a while licking at his front legs (Cleaning or itching??) though the back end is still all over the place.

I will try and get some more piccies for you all tomorrow so you can see how he is doing.  Hopefully we will have the RC by the morning and we can get him started on that and give him a boost.  :wish:

thanks again to you all for your words of support for Joey... I have passed on all and given him a few extra head rubs from you all.

  xx

Hi everyone.

Joey is doing OK this morning.  He has his first poo last night!  His skin is looking much less inflamed and he has actually been managing to use his front paws to clean his face today after brekkie.  All good signs we hope.  Still very very vocal especially at food time if he thinks he is being left out which very often results in him getting himself in such a state he really makes us worry!

Hopefully today will continue to be a good day and things will look up for little Joey.  1 thing I do know for sure is he definately deserves it.

thanks for all the words of support.  Joey says miaow miaow purr. xx

Hope Joey is feeling a bit better this morning Sarah.  I'm sure under your wonderful care, he will be rallying round soon.

May be worth checking out re: feline cowpox - this can cause open sores etc, it is what George and his brother had when they came to us, as a result we think of being bitten by rats.  With Joey being so dapilitated (sp) he could have been subject to a rat attack.

Aparantly we were the 4th rescue on the list as no one else would go out to him or they were closed for the weekend!!!!!!!!!.  That said they had only called because they thought his leg was broken....   beggars belief really!

So unwanted  :'( it's heartbreaking, well done you, I would have rescued him too

A wee update:

Joey is looking a little brighter this afternoon.  Did have us a little worried as he didn't eat his lunch but I have popped in and out this afternoon and hes been fast asleep at last so I think the steroids, etc from this morning have really helped him.  His skin around his face and mouth and jaw doesn't appear to look as inflamed and red as it was this morning and his eye's have dried up again a tad.  So deffo think when he gets himself in a tizz it sets it off.

I don't think he probably slept last night just tried to rest in as pain less a way as possible.  I just really feel for him as you can tell he SO much wants a big cuddle and snuggle on someone's knee but he is so sore you have to be very careful where to touch him.  Despite everything he still musters a purr when you speak to him.

Hopefully he will get a good sleep again this evening.

Joey must be in so much discomfort.  I am so glad he is there with you but why oh why weren't you called sooner?

Still, he's there now.  Gentle virtual hugs for Joey and support to you.
