Most of mine like Catnip or Valerian (SP?)  but they dont seem to like it when they are young,   any kittens we have had are not interested at all,  soon as they get to about 18 months old they go mad for it

The best toy for them is Valerian knotties,  they go really really crazy.

Lirael doesn’t react.

Smoke and Gizmo roll all over the place and chew on the item with catnip in it.

However Penguin pees on anything with catnip so we don’t have any in the house. This has only come with age, when he was younger he loved the stuff but now gets too excited.

I remember Lucky and Gizmo with thier toy catnip mice.

Lucky played with his and loved it, but it always looked like a mouse.

Gizmo chewed his to a pulp

My daughter took an indelible pen and wrote on both mice.  What did she write ?

On one - "Luckys Mousie"

On the other ...... "Gizmos nasty chewed thing!"   ;) :evillaugh:

Thanks everyone for your replies.  None of the cats I've had before have ever really been bothered by it but I bought Samson 2 catnip/dental/chewy type mice yesterday.

He didn't seem bothered about them at first (maybe because our visitors with kids had just left).  He spent the afternoon snoozing and then had a manic hour or so in the evening where he was madly running about the place and getting himself into all sorts of predicaments.

At one point he dashed up the stairs while OH was coming down with a basket of washing and ended up crashing head-first into the stair/OHs feet.  Luckily there have been no repercussions (we're still keeping an eye on him incase he hurt himself) but i just wondered whether the catnip could have been responsible.

All mine go mad for it - we have a giant catnip plant in the garden they nibble on and then roll about like nutters near! My Mum and sisters cats have no interest in it at all, though.

Chloe goes loopy for the dried stuff, but leaves my fresh plants alone.

Mr T is less interested in dried (although he will join in the fun if that is all thats available!

What his Lordship REALLY likes is to munch my "nip" cuttings.  :tired:

Obviously, he hasn't caught on that if he eats them as an hors d'oeuvre now, he wont get the full salad later!!  :evillaugh:

All 6 go mad for the organic catnip toys in the shop esp the banana.  Noni (the easiest going gal you could ever meet) even starts growling and has been known to spit if another furry tries to interrupt a banana sesh

It's available in different forms but I've tried Bonnie with catnip drops (the little treats in a small bag) and she would not eat them.  I've bought toys with catnip in and she runs around but not for too long.

Some cats onhere go crazy, as I am sure you will hear when people start replying to you.
