I suppose one thing I have learned about having cats is that anything is possible and I guess him haven't licked it off wasn't as impossible as it seems. Been a picture of health today and been giving me a lot more cuddles than usual which of course is always nice  :Luv2:

You're right about my vets though, wouldn't change them for the world.

Two of mine get the drop on wormer given at the vets cos they dont do pills and there has been no problems, thank goodness Garfy is OK  :hug:

Tilly has had the mouth foaming with frontline but it says on the leaflet it is the carrier not the active ingredient that causes that - she can turned her head like something out of the exorcist unfortunately!

I have to say the same thing happened to Memphis (zooming around foaming at the mouth) one time when he was Frontlined. He had managed to lick it somehow. I think the running around was because it tasted so bad. Fronline do say that foaming may happen if licked.

To me it sound like the same thing with Garf, just with a different product. So glad he's all ok though.

I wouldn't advise people not to get it if I'm honest. I put it on 4 cats and only Garf got ill. Also when I phoned the nurse that answered had never heard of that side effect and went and had a lengthy conversation with the vet about it, a second vet also came in to look at him as well to see what had happened- so it seemed to me that for a busy practise they hadn't seen that reaction before.

We used to something called Profender, we did think he had licked it but when he was dashing about we saw him try to lick it but couldn't reach, and he couldn't have licked it off Charley as Charly was still at my feet lying on his back wiggling about tying to rub it off. The worse part was that I hadn't done the kittens so was a nervous wreck when I came backand had to do them- I think I followed them about for about 2 hours trying to make sure they were OK.

Garf seems fine now, I made his favourite dinner of cooked chicken with some prawns which not only cheered Garf up but the OH and I as well because Basil eating prawns is quite possibly the funniest thing on the planet, they get beated up, thrown about and he walks about with it in his mouth trying to find a good place to eat his "catch".

We decided to use a spot-on wormer as trying to get them to swallow a drontal was getting harder and harder each. So we thought "why not get a spot onsurely it would be less stressful..."

Seconds after applying it he started racing around the house foaming at the mouth so it was off to the vets. He got scrubbed and a steroid injection, the vet said it was the first time she had ever seen such a violent reaction He seems fine now, just having a little nap but I can't believe how worried I was. At least my proved yet again why I love them- they saw Garfield free of charge and didn't charge for his jab either as it was a reaction to one of their products- my cynical OH thinks it's because they don't want us to sue.
