You will be fine with AXA ands most others too to be honest because there is usually a sub bit where it says unless the vet recommends that the jab is not given. My vets dont vaccinate for leauk after 8 years old unless requested and they have said that in view of frantas illness in Feb he should have no more vacinnations.

I was with Sainsburys fror Kocka and vet said no vaccionations for her and this was no problem for the insurance.

I did just skim through! that sounds much better - I'm going to get the vet to sign the form tonight and put it in I honestly hadn't even thought about claiming so it will be a bonus if they pay up

What they mean is they wont pay for an illness if its preventable by vaccination eg enteritis, felv, flu, dentals are not preventable by jabs

I had a little look last night, Star is still with Salisbury's though and it seems that she isn't covered unless she has the vac for leukemia as well as the others????? is the axa policy the same does anyone know (yes I know I should have read it) if it is Oscar can't be vaccinated so I might as well cancel the insurance

AXA is standard as Rosella has quoted and they paid for Frantas work.......didnt bother to claim for Ducha ......oh that was M&S ......sorry!

Some owners want every little flaw removing and constant cleaning and thats what would be considered cosmetic, standard work and cleaning cos of mouth probs will be covered and sounds like yours needs some help

Check the small print for your policy, mine was in booklet form (I'm with Tesco). Tesco will only cover dental if its the result of an external accident/injury but I don't know what the other providers are like.

They automatically do bloods at my vets and Schui was put on a drip when he had all his removed (not sure of his age but old) because of his kidneys. Byron was fine.

I would get them to do bloods, and put her on a drip - I had a dental done on a 17yo last year (well, she was very nearly 18), as her bloods showed she could tolerate the anaesthetic. Modern ones are very safe for oldies these days

They will do bloods to check she is ok first if she is old, Byron had nearly all hers out at 23!

Thanks guys, going to phone Axa tomorrow and book appt at vets for Bunty - so worried though as she is an old gal and will need a GA won't she for work

As far as I'm concerned it follows that dental work is covered if arising from illness or injury.

My AXA policy is the same and I have interpreted it in the same way.

As far as I'm concerned it follows that dental work is covered if arising from illness or injury. I think they are effectively excluding cosmetic dental work altho for the life of me I can't see that a reputable vet would carry out cosmetic dental work on a cat

Think Bunty needs to see the vet as her breath is bad and she is starting to dribble - just had a look at our Axa cover and it doesn't mention dental as far as I can see - anyone know if it does?
