thanks sam,
ive searched those sites and some others and cant find this little fella listed as missing so hes up as found, and when damn digital camera charges ill get some photos of him up too. hes been to the vets, no chip and they place him at about 7 months.  posters going up tomorrow (wanted to check age/chip first). some vets and rescues contacted, ill work on calling more tomorrow, the big ones are done though.
as for the RSPCA, ive been lurking on  purrs and catchat for too long to do that!!! and tbh, if hes not claimed,i think id be happy to keep him. hes a character.
full story for him:
some neighbourhood children brought him to my neighbour thinking it was her cat and that he was lost. he bolted in through the door and settled himself down- her 3 cats were not impressed!! so she asked me if id take him, the only shelter round here is under cars and it was wet/cold so hes in my flat at the moment, and hes not so far shown any interest in the outside or leaving and has spent most of his time clamped to my lap.we thought he was a stray but think its unlikely now?

Hi,

Can I suggest a couple of things to do:

1.   Take the cat to your local vet and ask them to check for a micro-chip.

2.    Put up posters in your local area.

3.   Contact vets and rescues in your local area.   A list of local rescues can be found on http://www.catchat.org/adoption/index.html (click on the map of the UK to find your area)

4.   Put a found notice on the following sites:

www.mymoggy.com - contact Sue ASAP

4.   Please DO NOT hand this kitty over to the RSPCA as they do NOT have a no kill policy and if their local shelter is full there is a strong chance that the cat will be put to sleep.

I’d just like to add thank you for helping this Kitty and please try to provide him with somewhere dry and out of the wind (preferably indoors) at night a shed or garage or even a plastic bin laid on it’s side supported with a couple of bricks and a good thick layer of hay or straw are good.  Also food and water and a litter tray if he is allowed inside.

With best regards

Sam
