It just  goes to show that no matter how appealing cats are (although all cats have something that is lovable even the 'they who must be obayed' type) it is still difficult to find them a purrfect home. As you know when folks hand in such cats they always say you will have no trouble homing them. If only.

A very topical subject for me today! The other two people in our Branch who microchip have been having problems for a while and today it was my turn, although usually I don't have a problem. Four times I tried and four times the chip came out. I had another go and said that if that one didn't stay in I was giving it up! Luckily, that one seemed to stay put. Wondered if it was me, or if we had a dodgy batch of chips or if it was to do with the implanter. Have been microchipping for years and never had this problem before.

i would get him a good going over with a good scanner again.  worst comes to the worst you could leave the current details with petlog but reregister him again with a new chip just in case if you get a new one put in but the old one is lurking about somewhere  and if he got scanned when lost the old number came up (petlog would have both details so double safe)

Lynn the kittens were with many tears when they were chipped but I was given all the paperwork to go with them when rehomed.

Very occasionally chips have been known to come out, or they have not actually gone in at all but are in the fur so when the reader tests it seems OK but in reality the chip soon drop off

were you there when the kitten was first chipped ??

normally all cats should be scanned thouroghly and double checked to make sure the code that comes up is indeed the code that matches the barcodes stickers that comes in the pack.

Has anyone had a problem with petlog microchips? One of the kittens I rehomed was scanned and his seems to either be not working or it's not gone in properly, it hasn't migrated as the vet has thoughroughly scanned the kit.
