When I got home on Friday night I bathed it. Jess didn't like it much and I've not been able to catch him all weekend to do it again!

But looking closely on saturday it was a bit yellow.

It doesn't seem to be bothering him at all. Jess does groom a lot but I wouldn't say he over grooms. He does groom Milo too.

Well we're off to the vets this evening so I'll ask Emma to take a look.

Does he groom a lot? It looks like the type of mouth soreness cats get from overgrooming.

Good luck at the vet.
Cats were once gods; they have never forgotten this, nor have the people they own.

Thank you both of you.

I know the pics are hard to see, my photography skills weren't too good at 5:30 this morning.

Helen I think you might be right though, it is a bald patch. I think we might bath it and ask the vet to have a look on Monday.

It's hard to see on the photo but could he have been scratching it and plucked the little hairs out so it looks bald rather than being a lump?  Riley has grey skin and a few months ago it looked a bit shiny round by his chin/start of his lip, I bathed it with salt water for a few days (there was no wound or anything, just shiny instead of furry) and his stubbly chin fur grew back as normal.

Knowing how stressed Jess gets I think if it was me I'd wait til Monday when he's going anyway

Thats the start of a rodent ulcer id say, they often go down themselves but if it gets any bigger or shinier then he will probably need an anti-inflammatory.
Spike and tabitha get them when they have been grooming/nibbling themselves too intently.

I've attached a photo but I'm not sure if its clear!

Its on his bottom jaw right at the front, it looks a bit fleshy!

I don't think its bothering him as such as he is eating okay, but his not keen on having it touched.

I'm not sure whether to take him to the vets, we're going on monday evening for another urine sample so ideally I'd rather wait till then but I just don't know.
