well good news is the little man is back home again.  Very sore and feeling rather sorry for himself. He still seems a bit out of it so it may be a while until he feels much better.  Definately keeping him here with me tonight and if he is better in the am will see about taking him back to his foster home.

On an up note his blood tests actually came back better than we expected and only show a slight increase in his liver enzymes which they say could be as a result of the damaged tissues in his mouth which are bad.

Needless to say he'll be getting lots of TLC  and he says a big thank you to everyone who was rooting for him today!

hi guys and thank you!!!

Just off the phone to the vet just now and he is apparently doing fine but still very very sleepy so they want to hold onto him until around 6pm tonight.

He's had 2/3 teeth taken out but apparently his mouth is very badly ulcerated and looks very very sore.  He's been given a shot of steroid and some antibiotics and bloods taken (cos no way you'd get them with him awake) which they are going to test this afternoon.

fingers crossed that this is fine.  So looking forward to bringing him back home... we are so worried about the old codger!

thanks guys, I've just phoned the vets.... couldn't wait any longer I'm afraid.... to see how he is and they are working on him now. So he is under and stable for now.

He has been through so much in the last few years he has been with us in care and he deserves so much to have a bit of enjoyment from life following this op.  We are all so worried for him and just hope and pray that he comes out of it OK and with no complications :wish:

I've to call back at about 2.30 and see how he is then.  Think he'll be staying over with us here tonight to monitor him and then if all is OK take him back to his foster home tomorrow.  :wish:

Positive vibes needed for today....
« Reply #1 on: September 25, 2008, 08:55:35 AM »
Hi Guys,

We have one of our old timers Sandy going in for a big op today to have his teeth looked at.... although just routine in itself Sandy has recovered from serious poisoning in the past along with spondolitis (sp) and deformity of the feet, etc and a whole host of other problems.  We have put this off as long as we could but have been left with no choice but to have something done with his teeth as it has been going on so long and every other avenue has stopped working.  so this is our only option to try to give him some quality of life back as his favourite past time is eating... but don't blame him at his age... we have no exact date but we reckon he may be around 17 / 18 yrs old... ancient!!  :Luv2:

Please send Sandy your positive healing vibes today as we are so worried about him but are truly hoping he manages to pull through the procedure.  He's as tough as old boots and will give anybody a run for their money if you try and look at his mouth... so we are just hoping this fighting spirit will see him through today and that he will be OK.   :scared:   :-:
