Brilliant news, so pleased for you and Rincewind - a story to give hope to many others with missing furbabes - I used to be spectical about some unexplained things but have heard many stories and experienced several instances myself that have changed my outlook completely.

Glad he's back  :)

The NPR really is a good place  :)

The lady sounds lovely - Big bunch of flowers?   :evillaugh:

I am usually very sceptical but last week, I went out of the basement door and "tripped" on a cat - there was even a little scuffling sound. The thing is, a cat never ran past me or up the stairs - they are marmoleum so you always hear cats going up or down, even if they tiptoe. I didn't mention it to OH but later that day, he said about Willow staring at something that wasn't there. He said "I'm sure we have a ghost" - I told my story and said I didn't mention it before as I didn't want to be laughed at and wouldn't have believed it myself. Maybe why Willow is doing extra "Inappropriate" peeing lately?

I really am a hard-line sceptic and usually see that kind of thing as entertainment only  :shify:

Someone saw him wandering in and out of a garage located behind the flat she lives in, so she conned him in the flat with a couple of cans of salmon and asked her friend to check the interwebs for missing cats.... Her friend chanced across his description on National Pet Register and lo and behold the tornado in a trailer park is back home!

He's lost some serious weight on his adventures, so he's getting little and often meals to bring his weight back up. On the plus-side his faddy eating seems to have been shelved!

Ok...heres the spooky part. When we went to collect him, my OH said he glimpsed another cat at the top of her stairs...but when he mentioned it to her she said she didn't have another cat...so put that aside UNTIL we got back and he looked at the pics on the wall of my previous furbabes (2 of which are bridge babes), turned to me and said 'that's the cat at the top of the stairs' pointing at Smudge. Smudge died approx 13 years ago in an RTA!
I know some of you will scoff at this but Smudge has made regular 'visits' to my fathers house and occasionally 'accompanies' me on walks when I go back there...but now it seems he has decided to be my guys guardian angel...what a comforting thought  :Luv:

Will be popping back round to the lovely lady who phoned us with a box of chocs!

After 1 month 2 days......HE's HOME!

Somehow, he'd managed to cross some of the busiest roads in Portsmouth, an industrial estate (which has the football stadium in it) and or the Train depot to get to Fratton!
Utterly terrifying to think about....
The strange thing is he STILL has his collar on...this is the cat who normally goes through them like nobodies business!

Now i've gotta rememeber where all the posters were put up!!

Thank you guys for all your supportive words

Ruth I am so so sorry - you lost your cat on the same day I did. Moriarty has a sister too, who is pining terribly and follows me everywhere now.

I too have been having some very disturbing thoughts of late...it feels so painful, doesn't it?

Keep up your spirits..have you tried recording the other cat 'singing' and taken that around on your searching. Or if it is not too stressful, taking the cat around in a securely locked basket? Sometimes they will call to one another. Or finding any local 'cat' ladies (we have two of them on the case) - some people know all the local animals and can tell if there is a newbie.

We too have tried everything and I wake up sad, just like you.

Have strength from this site and the people here - who are bonded to our creatures just like you and I.  Your feelings are never silly...these cats are lucky to be so beloved. Think of that when you can't sleep or have another unproductive search.

Look after yourself too.

Cyber hugs.

FOUND!!!.....Southsea-My baby Rincewind....
« Reply #1 on: September 11, 2008, 02:18:15 AM »
Missing since 3am on the 27th August. He slipped out while I went into the back garden and hasn't been seen since. I've been sticking up posters, leafleting, all the local vets and rescues have been informed, he's on the national pet register, every trick in the book.....and still nothing. He is a large cat (12Lbs), missing a lower front incisor and was wearing a green 'trixie' collar with a black bell at the time of his dissapperance. He also has a highly distinctive white tip on a black tail.
My heart is breaking with sadness that I may never see him again- Z sits on the fence and looks for him, calls for him at night...
I feel like the joy has gone out of my life...he was the one of the 3 who made me laugh with his antics and now to think he is all alone in this horrible weather.... Here I go again.....  :'(
I hold out hope that he is still alive as a couple of days ago I had a weird experience... I was cooking and my mind came round to thinking of him, when I was hit by a terrible lonliness..a longing to come home but he doesn't know the way. please don't scoff at me...I feel a hole in my heart and am sad, but this was not the usual type of thing. I've tried visualisation to help and I sleep with a blankie he slept on in the hope that it will help him find me again.

Anyway, if anyone has any news please contact me. As you can probably guess i'm beside myself with worry.....
