Hope the prawns are helping  ;)  Jaffa has been diagnosed with conjunctivitis on a few occasions over the past 5-6 years, but this time the vet said she didn't think it was conjunctivitis but she didn't know exactly what it was.  he always gets given Exocin eye drops and they tend to work.  in the past I've been told to apply them twice a day but this time I was told to do it 3-4 times a day to start with and they do seem to be working quicker than on previous occasions.

What actually causes the conjunctivitis?

Can be caused by chlamidya, or feline chlamydophila as they call it now.

Eyebright (Euphrasia) and Goldenseal are recommended for sore eyes, and colloidal silver is supposed to be good too.

I think prawns are on the menu tonight then! hehe!!!
Camomile tea seems to ring a bell actually. Although normal tea is really good for it's healing properties- I remember when I was growing up we used to take our cats to a really lovely elderly vet who swore that if you bathed an animal wound in cooled tea it will heal quicker than with most medical prescriptions and I know it has helped heal cat war-wounds before so I think I shall try the camomile. Thanks for the advice!

Lots of prawns will help  ;)  They are certainly helping Jaffa's eye  ;D

Cpl Smokey has had more bouts of conjunctivitis than I can remember but the cream always seems to work. I seem to remember someone recommending chamomile tea too. I'm always bathing Smoo's eyes as he's prone to gunk due to the fact he's a scrunchy persian ball of snuggles  :Luv:

Conjunctivitis

Well late last night I noticed that Layla had a bit of a weepy eye- she's had a bit of a cold so thought it was just a result of that. I bathed it in cooled boiled water and it looked fine so we all went to bed. I woke up this morning to find the whole family (all 3 cats) with very yukky weepy eyes and on closer examination they were all quite pink too.  :(  Luckily we were already going to the vet for Rufus' 2nd vacc so managed to get them all in and as I susspected, all 3 kitties have conjunctivitis. The vet says as i've spotted it very quickly, it will sort out fairly quickly with the drops and some TLC.
Just got home and done first drops straight away nd they were pretty good, even Oscar who wriggled for Britain but seemed to know I was helping him so hopefully they will all be on the mend soon. Luckily it doesn't seem to be bothering them too much, they haven't been scratching their eyes at all- they're just weepy.
Anyway, does anyone know anything else I can do to get them better quickly?  :)
Thanks
