Oh I know, and I find it so frustrating.  A lot of parents don't seem to care at all about their kids.  I'm not a mother (yet!) so perhaps I don't appreciate fully how hard it can be, but I know if I care half as much for my future kids as I do my cats then they'll be a lot better off than half the kids in my classroom!

Sorry, slightly off-topic!

At the end of the day, teaching a child to care responsibly for a pet is a parent's job.  If a parent gets a pet for a child without researching fully what it entails then they are pretty irresponsible in my view.

I agree Suze, sadly not all parents do that - if they did, we would not have a world full of strays ...  >:(

doesn't say anything about owning and caring for them or tips on health care etc, which is what I would want my kids to learn about. Pretty pix of kittens just leads to lots of little darling demanding one, but then not caring for them ...

Some of the articles may well be about owning and caring etc, I guess we'll have to reserve judgement on that until we can see whats inside - but they've got to get their target market to buy the magazine first so the marketing is going to be aimed at the 'cuteness' factor, rather than the 'learn how to look after.....' ,  I would have thought.

As someone who works with young children I have to say I agree that this seems like a good thing - I take the point that kids need to be taught how to look after animals responsibly, but really it is good for them to focus on pets rather than fashion or sex at that age (and you'd be surprised how young they start to worry about things like that).

Just looked it up and it's aimed at girls between 3 & 10 years old (just the right age to catch em).  http://www.uniquemagazines.co.uk/magazine-subscription-266393/I-love-Pets-magazine/I-love-Pets-magazine-subscription.html
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

hope it is also full of good advice on their care and maintenance, otherwise rescues will be full of cute bunnies and puppies that have outgrown their usefulness ...

Full of photos of fluffy kitten, cats, bunnies etc  :Luv2:

Hopefully things like this have a positive effect  on young kids  :)

Makes a change from kids magazines with free lipgloss etc  :-:
