No they are not on the internet, but I have my reasons for no placing the cats pics on the site.

Sorry, I can see no connection re this comment how and  I and all my fosterer's keep our cats. All our foster cats have pens that cost thousands of pounds, have heated beds, radios and most things except a loving family that their little hearts could desire. Also some of the fosterer's have cat cuddlers that visit sometimes on a daily basis. Those fosterer's like myself who do not have cat cuddlers in is because we or members of our family spend lots of quality time a day with the cats.

The previous owner of the cats in question only had this idea because of a rescue in his area who told lies simply because they did not want to take in golden oldies.

Ela, my post stated why I understood this persons perception of rescues. It was in no way aimed at any rescue using this site.

Anyway, glad these three are safe. :)

I think the title of this thread should be changed from 'heartbreaking' to 'heartwarming' :Luv:
I hope the three settle in well; they've really landed on their paws!

JS wouldnt have been talking about you Ela, but some rescues aren't as good, and sadly people do think that we all keep them in small pens, and the fact that a rescue told him that would be the case, it is no wonder he didn't want that to happen to them.  I took my sis to a local one yesterday and was nearly in tears, I was soo glad that we use fosterers. Could you e-mail me the pics when Stuart has taken them, I do have a soft spot for oldies (had to deliberately avoid looking at them yesterday!!).
Please spay your cat

Does the person who they lived with use the site? I think most people who are following the thread ould love to see these three. :)

I can understand their misconception of how cats in rescues live. Having worked at the "nameless place" near me, I noticed the cats there weren't socialised at all. Just the basics were done - apart from when they let me loose on my on to look after the cattery. ;)

Brilliant news about the cats
But seeing as it was a caseof the owner loving his cats wonder how he would feel having his story told on a public website !

I really think rescues need to publicise what goes on as long as names aren't named. Perhaps if more people are aware of the misery 'out there' then it will encourage them to help in some way.

Well done Ela, still waiting for piccies.

Are they safe Ela?

They are with there owner but I will take them on Sunday. You know the sad thing is I think he does love them but after what he was told by another rescue, he thought they would be better of PTS than left in a shed.

From that point of view, I can understand that, in that case.  Better I keep some of my thoughts to myself, but may I say well done to you, Ela

Well done Ela!
I'll eat humble pie over this guy and take back my comments  :-[. Seems to me that whoever he spoke to at that rescue centre is the one who needs to be dressed down for severe tactlessness!

A lot of adult cats around here that Lesley gets called about are under PTS threat only to find out that the problems are surmountable with a little work or we've just been told a flagrant lie in order for the owner to pass the buck. Needless to say it doesn't encourage faith in human behaviour!  :(

Ok – let’s call a truce
If I don’t know the full story then I like to give people the benefit of the doubt

Good luck with these cats – I hope they can be saved

Truce agreed  .  You have to forgive us in rescue, we hear so many horrible stories of people just dumping, ignoring or having their cats pts - it gets to the stage that whatever they tell me I take with a pinch of salt now anyway.

But of course there must also be genuine reason why people can't continue to look after there cats

Sometimes there is absolutly no valid reason a person wants their pets apart fom the fact that they are not wanted anymore. A sad fact but very true.

A little harsh I think when we do not have all the details to hand.  There is no mention of the owner not wanting the cats any more only that a relationship has broken down which could mean that the owner is homeless or needing to go into rented accommodation which will not allow pets.

But surely not as harsh as putting lifetime members of your family to sleep when someone is offering you a lifeline, as Ela has been trying to do for the past few days.

Yes your right, sorry. I just got the impression that was the case. But of course there must also be genuine reason why people can't continue to look after there cats as well! I was more annoyed that people, in general, will have their cats PTS in situations when perhaps this drastic measure is not needed. But then I don't even have any cats yet so I certainly don't have the knowledge and years of exeperience you guys have :)

I am just totally lost for words that people would do that!! The least they could do Is just leave them at a rescue.. surely? I don't know very much about fostering (at all) but at some point in the future I think I am definately going to consider it.. the more I read these sad stories the more important it seems that emergency placements are out there.

Just been telling my partner about this story, and I'm so sorry to sound so nieve again but I just can't believe someone would have their cats PTS just because they don't want them anymore :( It's just so unbelivably sad. I'd so glad your going to take them in Ela - If it were me I just know I would have done the same thing if it meant saving these little kitties lives. Well done you!
