Inhope that you are able to find a suitable place for Little Bear, what a terrible situation.

Have you actually asked the owners of the apartment whether tyou would be able to bring Little Bear as she is a special needs cat and you intend to buy a place asap. Sometimes blanket bans are not always that if you ask.

Hi Cristy

Horrible situation to be in. Have you tried replicating this post on other US based threads? Apart from you I think we only have a couple more US based members on this forum, the majority are based here in the UK. However, I don't know how many people from the US read this forum as guests so hopefully someone will see your plea.

I'd follow Mark's link and also a few of the other forums to try to get some temporary shelter at the very least before a new home is found for LB.

Hi Cristy,

What a horrible position to be in. I assume you have checked out the list of rescues in your state.

Safe Haven looks promising - especially as they have the all important "No Kill" policy. Most of the members on here are from the UK so aren't familiar with US rescues. A couple of the members here have a lot of contacts and will hopefully post later (it's only 6.30am)

Good luck

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Spayed girl, Pemberton, NJ

I really am in need of some serious help here. We just found out today that my husband is probably going to be hired by a firm in Michigan and while this is a good thing, since he has been out of work for almost two months now, if he takes the position we will have to leave in two weeks. The company is giving us an apt for the first 6 months, but we can't take pets. This is not a problem with Jasper because a friend of mine is going to catsit until we find a house to buy, but she has 4 kids and no time to take care of LB. I am heartbroken since I have fallen in love with our Little Bear and even more than heartbroken, I am scared. I absolutely HAVE to find her a home ASAP. This wouldn't be an issue if she were not a special needs kitty, but I don't want to give her to just anyone. I have been asking everyone I know all afternoon and evening and am at a loss. I am willing to deliver her if I can find somewhere within a few hours of us. If any of you have any ideas PLEASE let me know...I have been crying all day and am so confused and exhausted I don't know which end is up at the moment. I have been trying to find a disabled shelter or something of the sort around us, but I can't find anything online and I am scared that they would put her in a cage or something...I really need to know that she is going to someone that will love her and take care of her!!!!

We are in Pemberton, NJ. This is pretty much right in the center of the state...40 min from the beach, 40 min from Philly and about 2 hours from NYC and Atlantic City. Like I said, we are definately willing to go for a drive..as long as it is less than like 6-7 hours...to find her a GOOD home.

Check out this address for more information about Little Bear (I will add pictures soon)     http://handicappedpet.net/helppets/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=11190&p=56876#p56876
