Arh I missed this, but have watched Sarah Fisher before she really is amazing, I got a T Touch book for my birthday and I'm going to try it on Jess,

I was also trying to clicker train Jess and Milo and we were getting somewhere with it till Jess got ill, I've not done it since as I use treats and can't give them to Jess at the moment, (I don't really want to put tuna in my pocket

)

Just watched the link and it was a tortie

Interesting cos the cat initial was much tamer than Sasa , maybe I will have to try a paint brush, havent got a fake hand. Sasa is now as scared of Franta as she is of me and the poor boy only has to be lying in the same room and she gives him a look to kill and leaves!

Mind you he has chased her and put his paws on her.

Ah, Sarah Fisher, she's the one who does the Tellington Ttouch isnt she? I've got a great book about Tellington touch, never got round to actually tryng out any of the methods though!

Karen Pryor is excellant, btw. Also she has a section on her website about clicking for friendliness (which I'm assuming is similar to clicking for calmness ... which is very effective).

I am not sure if you can train cats with a clicker, I am sure someone will know

They do that with dogs who have food aggression and dogs who resource guard.

You can clicker train cats can't you??

I stroke Sasa with her feather loads but she is far too clever and watches my hands and feet. If I get too close she will back away terrified.

We are at the stage where I can put my hand to her and she will have a really good sniff but if I do it too long or more than twice in a session she backs away.

It depends what mood she is in and how much Franta has annoyed her too but a few weeks ago I could walk my finger to the tent and she wopped me, no claws but she wont do that now grrrrrrrrrr.

Gill she started with two feathers on long poles. She stroked the cat with one and with the other she dangled it by the cats mouth. After this she had a false hand on a pole which she used to stroke the cat. Again after using it for a while the owner was slowly able to stroke the cat and it was calmer

Just wondered if anyone saw the One Show tonight as there was an amazing cat behaviourist on there.

A woman had a lovely cat that was ruling the household

It often attacked her two dogs and lay in wait on the stairs to grab the womans ankles

It also did not like being stroked.

The cat behaviour woman soon trained the cat to be calmer and allow the owner to stroke it
