Quick update: Brian went to his new home and has settled down a treat

His new mum and dad are absolutely over the moon with him and they both think he's adoreable and he couldn't have wished for a better home. He's taken to sleeping with them at night and is relishing having the individual attention that he so craved, I'm soooooo pleased for the little man and thanks to Pauline and Phil for giving him a fantastic home

Here is an email I had yesterday evening

Hi Dawn

Well Brian has been with us for a week now but you would think he has been part of our family forever!!

He is gorgeous,loves a fuss constantly purring and eating so well.

He likes to wake us around 3.30--4.00am!!! For cuddles/playtime yes he sleeps with us and sits on our heads haha.

Just thought you would like to know of his progress and how much we adore him.

I think his FIV status was putting people off, it's a shame as he's gorgeous and he's no trouble whatsoever. I have a good feeling about his homecheck though and I'll be over the moon for him

I've had an enquiry about Brian so keep everything crossed for him

The couple live in a beautiful rural part of Wales but haven't said where but I will travel for this gorgeous boy, he deserves a new home and I will be over the moon if they end up wanting him. They have an enclosed garden and 2 little dogs and I'm sure Brian will be in his element

Here's some updated pics of this gorgeous, scrummy little fella

He is one of the most loving cats I have in my care at the moment, and if you don't give him a fuss, he'll rub his head on anything

He is fab with other cats and also with dogs, no aggression whatsoever. He usually holds my thumb between his teeth when he goes to sleep, he'll have his paws in place on my hand as well so if I move, he digs his claws in

He is adoreable and hubby has rechristened him Brian

I may have someone interested in this gorgeous lad

I've had a lady on from London this morning and her mum lives not too far from me. She is going to retire shortly and wants to home a cat that will have more difficulty in getting a home. She prefers an indoor one and it will have to get on well with dogs which Willow does. I've also mentioned Bella who I've had a while now, she's an older girl but would benefit from being on her own with lots of attention, although she tolerates the other cats, she doesn't really like them.

Willow is absolutely fine, he is the most gorgeous loveable babe and I'm in love

I did take more piccies but they came out

so I will take some more when I get chance. He hasn't got an aggressive bone in his body, he gives a little nip now and again when he's having a fuss but it's not in a nasty way, he's also fab with the dogs and tries to nuzzle them when he sees them

This little man's results have come back today and sadly he is positive, but it's not all bad news as he is utterly gorgeous and even nuzzles my dogs so I'm sure it won't be long before someone else falls in love with him

The gold standard test is the immunofluorescent antibody test (IFAT) used by Companion at the University of Glasgow Veterinary School and all cats tested positive by one of the quick in-practice tests should be confirmed by this test. The IFAT has an internal negative control to avoid false positive results, and if the control shows that something is wrong, a further test called a western blot is performed for no further charge.

My vets always use them and Sean did say the other night if they suspect it but it's not conclusive on the first one, they do a separate test again which gives them a definite answer, I should get it middle of next week.

Had the first results back from Glasgow and he does seem to be positive, they will now be doing a second test to confirm but it doesn't look hopeful

I've still not had chance to take any more piccies but I will do as soon as I get chance. He's been in this evening and Sean has taken some blood. Being a smart Alec, he is adamant the inhouse test they do are virtually 100%, so he agreed to do an inhouse and if it tested positive, he would send it away free of charge

I agreed to this after a few choice words among ourselves, anyway he did it and after about an hour he decided to come clean and admit that he couldn't tell either way

He gave in gracefully, well sort of and did another blood test and that has now been sent off. I think it must of really stuck in his throat to tell me after the conversation we'd had about an in house test, but it was good that he wrong for once

The Ginger British shorthair posted by Corporal Smokey, looks exactly like Garfield! I think Desley was probably right when she said there was more than moggy in him.

He is a stunning cat! hopefully it shoudln't take too long to rehome him - sounds positive from the vet! definately a ladies tom!

A lot of people think that pointed cats must have some siamese in them, but the gene for points is pretty widespread in the cat population so he could be purebred moggy

DD I know it's asking a lot but if you can find/take a pic of him looking nice and chunky and with blue eyes it may help a little.

I'm not getting very far and OH is doing his whole "Shallow Hal" act. He's always pretending to base his opinions on looks but I know it's just a big old front to stop him getting attached. Corporal Smokey was the last one to successfully break through it and he was no looker (bless him) when we scooped him up and his eyes were glued shut with green goo

I'll keep trying though, not that I'll get anywhere...

This babe is settling in a treat and is a real fusspot

He's been eating really well and just seems to take everything in his stride. Although he was getting well looked after in the food department and had his own kennel in the ladies garden, I still think it's much nicer for them being in a home environment. Janet said if she walked past him, he would give her a quick swipe but I've not witnessed any of that behaviour whilst here unless he is still shell shocked after his vet visit

Hopefully he'll carry on being a big softie and once I get him blood tested, I can start looking for the ideal home for him, preferably in Derbyshire

I'll try and get some better piccies of him tomorrow as the others really don't do him justice

That's the story of my life

They said as long as the other vets are happy to take the blood for me, then they are happy to send it off so in future, that's what I'll do.
