*UPDATE*

Well I took Alfie to the vet first thing this morning. Before we left he was pestering me for food, which was a good sign.

The vet doesn't think it's an obstruction although we can't totally rule it out at this stage as he seemed a bit tender in one particular place on his tummy. He was given a an anti-biotic and anti-inflamatory jab and I've got some tablets to start tomorrow. No sign of any sickness and diarrhea so far so fingers crossed.

I boiled him some fish earlier and he's managed to keep it down. In fact I just caught him on the work-top trying to steal some more of the plate so I take it he's feeling a bit better!

Hopefully there will be some signs of normality in the litter tray tomorrow!

My vet usually advises RC Sensitive but probably best to get the vet to check it out. Hope it is soon sorted

A friend of mine's cat was like this a couple of times and she took him to the vet who advised what I said previously about starving him for a day etc but also gave him an antibiotic jab on one occasion and some drops on the other incase there was some infection in his tummy.  Hope he is much better soon

He's just been sick again and more diarrhea.

Think he'll be at vet tomorrow.

This is so out the blue, I've been really lucky with him up to now.

In my experience vets usually been advise to starve them for a day then just give them a light meal of fish or chicken or scrambled egg especially no biscuits because they can irritate the tummy.  It may a good idea to have a word with the vet though if no better,  hope he is better soon poor boy xx

Avoid any gourmet food, chicken or white fish for a few meals and see how he goes, could be a reaction to his jab or stress from the trip out

It might have been the food, sometimes they have bad batches, not often mind you, but still possible.

Give him something bland for now, like plain cooked chicken or fish, anything that won't upset his tummy more. Make sure he stays hydrated so that he can help flush it out of his system. I found mine would respond to drinking water from the cap of my water bottle, so much more interesting than her own bowl!

Do still call the vet, just as a precaution.

Hope he feels better

I've had Alfie for just over a year and he's around 2 years old. I've never had any problems with him, never even seen him cough up a hairball.

On Saturday I took him to the vet for his annual check-up and his booster (think it's called Tricat - he doesn't get the leukaemia inoculation as he's indoor). According to the vet everything was fine and he got a clean bill of health.

Last night around 8pm he vomited twice and shortly after went into his litter tray and had a bout of diarrhea. He was probably as shocked as me because he's got a very steady stomach normally.

Anyway this morning he seemed much brighter and seemed quite hungry so I gave him a little of his favourite food. He's had maybe half a pouch today (this is less than normal). He's been to the toilet twice - diarrhea again.

I probably should mention he had one pouch of Tesco finest Chicken & Turkey (which he has had before but not recently). He didn't seem too taken with it at the time and I wonder if this is what has caused the upset? I realise it also might have been the trauma of going to the vet but he has been to this vet twice before and been absolutely fine.

I'll probably phone the vet tomorrow if he's not any better but wondered if I'm panicking unneccessarily and if anyone had advice?

Thanks
