Thought Simba was on the mend, but found more blood in his poo's again,he also seems to be going for poo's more often,he is eating ok and is playing a bit (maybe not as much as the others though)since we covered the sink so he and sky can't go in there he has been doing it on the kitchen work tops :'(,so I brought one of their cat litter trays back inside which hubby doesn't want me to do.They have their own private toilet in their cat run which they can go to whenever they want :'( any ideas) really getting fed up of going back and forward to the vets and having no money :'(
-
I don't have any helpful suggestions I'm afraid, just wanted to say that I hope you get it sorted out soon
-
:thanks: Clarenmax
-
We had the same problem with Mellika and Raffi always had the runs, in the end the vets didnt know what to do, we have put both of our Benglies on a grain free diet and they are fine now, hope Simba is better soon, I know how worrying it is.
-
Thanks Sheryl will ask the vet again about his diet,we are seeing a different one today so see what this vet says.
-
I know how frustrating it is and hope that todays vet has some new ideas, our vet wanted to put them on a Hills diet but our breeder said that its not very good for Bengals so mine are now on Bozita wet and Purina delicate biccies.
-
The last vet said that I didn't need to change it but I think I might have to,when we first got Simba the breeder was only giving him tin tuna in brine because she said he wouldn't eat anything else,I wonder if it has anything to do with it :'( It took us about 5 weeks to get him to eat proper kitten food.
-
hope all goes well xx
-
:thanks: Lisa
-
Let us know how he gets on Felix - I will be interested to know what the vet recommends.
Big hugs for Simbas poorly bott xxx
-
Will do :thanks: Sheryl xx

Surely a tray is better than poop on the worktops! Men eh!
I think a diet change would be worth a go as you have tried the other obvious treatments.
-
Another thought - have you tried Lacto B Felix, it worked wonders for my little ones.
-
I agree with you Milly's Mum men eh!
No Sheryl haven't tried Lacto B,
Just spent £95 in the vets :( well we owe the vets that :-[
The vets did some blood tests, more antibiotics :( and some Royal Canin Sensitivity food to try him on, should gets the results in a couple of days. The food is expensive before I said to her I might get some food myself she had already got some. She said we could only get it from the vets :( sure I have seen it in jolly's.If not do any of you know where I can get it from cheaper, unless I try a different one.(but don't want to mix his food up to much. Sheryl with the Lacto B can you use it with the sensitivity food or you just use it with the normal food? She also said being fed tuna when he was younger could of coursed something with all this going on >:( the breeder we got him from may have done this to him.
-
Hi Felix, I mix the Lacto B with the Bozita wet food, I lost a lot of faith in the vet over my Benglies poorly bums, hope Simba is all better soon. Mine have raw meat once a week now too and they go mad for it
-
:thanks: again Sheryl :Luv:

That is one very irresponsible breeder - just feeding a kitten tuna, and then of course they get addicted to it to the exclusion of all other food >:( Still you did well to get him eating kitten food. Lacto B is great, but think its easier to mix with wet food than dry, as its a powder, as Sheryl said, and also the grain free diet, but just remember to make any dietary changes gradually over a week or so.
-
Will do :thanks: Gillian
-
You wont be able to get RC sensitivity in Jollyes but you can from the like of vet uk but the p+p tends to make the price the same. Is he on wet or dry? You'll need a peg if its the dry
What are the blood tests for?
-
He is on wet, he won't eat any dry food at all, what is the peg for with dry food? is it to keep the packet sealed :-[
The vet didn't really say what the test were for I think they are doing to make sure it isn't life threatening. :'(
-
Peg is cos the dry food stinks  its made with capelin fish and it has the strongest pong
-
Oh ok :thanks:
-
Hope he improves soon!
-
I would definitely try him on a grain free diet plus lacto b. I think that vets often don't know what to do when they've run out of tests to do. And most aren't too good on nutrition (or bengal specialists). They will know what prescription foods treat a specific condition or symptoms and usually recommend them as a matter of course, but they aren't always the best thing for symptoms of unknown cause. Have you tried him on a raw diet? Bengals seem to do well on raw.
-
:thanks: Lucy+Susanne
No haven't tried him on a raw diet, the vet advised me not to when we first got our Bengals because of all the cases of bad stomachs he has had to treat with them. I will see how the results are and then weather this Royal Canin food works. Thanks for everyones advice.
-
Just noticed in the last couple of hour that there is clear jelly stuff with his blood mixed in now :'(
-
Are you sure its not like a mucus? Sometimes upset tums can produce that as well if its like IBS symptoms or similar?
-
Yep it could be Mucus :scared:
-
I would check with the vets, but I don't think it will be anything to worry about.
With upset tums, especially those prone to be runny tums, it often happens that the bowel is irritated so you do get a bit of blood, and sometimes mucas as well.
That's the case in hoomans, anyway, not sure if the same applies to our furry friends, but defo check with the vets on the phone as you're concerned about it.
-
No haven't tried him on a raw diet, the vet advised me not to when we first got our Bengals because of all the cases of bad stomachs he has had to treat with them.
Most vets will advise against raw diets, when actually many cases of irritable bowel/upset tummies/diarrhea clear up on a correctly balanced raw diet.
-
:thanks: guys
-
Let us know what the vets say when you call
-
Ok will do xx
-
The vets are gonna call be back :scared:
-
The vet said the mucas is normal for I B D condition which she thinks it is and Colitis is interlinked with it.His white blood cells are quite raised and he is still very inflamed. So I have to see how he goes on these antibiotics and the Royal Canin food,we take him back again next Tuesday,I ask her did you test for Cancer but she said they would have to do more test for that,His Kidneys and liver are fine.If these don't work he will have to go on Steroids or inflamertries tabs,(spelt wrong I know) can't think. :scared:
-
Oh Felix (big cyber hug) I know its not easy but please try not to worry too much, we have discovered since havong the Bengals that they are prone to bad tummies. When our 2 were put onto antibiotics it made them both worse and we were at our wits end. As for the raw meat, our vet said not to give it them but I decided to go on the advice of our breeder (she has been breeding Bengals for over 10 years) she explained that the Bengal has a slightly different digestive system to other cats and that sometimes traditional treatment doesnt work. Mellika still passes a little bit of blood occasionally now but all the tests we have had done have shown no problem so we are just hoping that it is something she grows out of.
-
:thanks: Sheryl I will deffo think about the raw meat if these changes don't work, how often do you feed the raw meat and which meats do you buy? :Luv:
-
It doesn't sound like you've got too much to worry about hun, upset tums are tricky to deal with sometimes, its a case of trial and error to find a combination of food and sometimes drugs to stabilise things, and then maintain them.
I've suffered with IBS for years, and it can be so frustrating 'cos you think you've got things balanced, then a dose of tonsillitis and antiobotics send you right back where you started
Do try not to worry, you will find a workable solution, and I'll bet that you feel worse about this than he does
-
Think seeing the blood everytime he goes the toilet makes me worry :scared:
-
They have the raw on a Saturday - 3 times during the day and the meat we get is deep frozen so that any bacteria etc has been destroyed, their favourite is OX Cheek (yuk) and they also like Mince. Keep your chin up hun xx
-
:thanks: ClarenMax I hope we can sort it out soon :Luv:
:thanks: Sheryl where do you buy your frozen meat from or do you freeze it yourself? :Luv:
-
  Hugs for both of you, hope you can get it sorted out soon xx
-
This is a good site about feeding raw http://www.rawfedcats.org/ and this one http://www.catnutrition.org/index.php
Its better if you can feed some fresh meat and not just frozen as the freezing process depletes taurine which is an essential amino acid for cats. Cats are well adapted to tackle bacteria because of the strong acids in their stomachs and their short digestive tract that doesnt allow things to hang around too long to cause problems! As long as its human grade and preferably organic if you can afford it.
I feed chicken (including wings/thighs/necks), beef, lamb, turkey, heart, liver, kidneys - I like to buy regularly so its fresh, (just normal human grade meat from the butchers or supermarket) but will sometimes buy frozen bone-in rabbit online.
-
:thanks: Gillian will have a look the next time I can get on the computer,(my sons)xx
-
Gillian just looked at the websites Wow there is so much stuff to take in but will read it again :thanks:
It is very interesting and the women really seems to know what she is talking about.xx
-
Just come back from vets yet again, before we went vets he just had mucas and blood coming out,the vet said thats cos he feels like he wants to go the toilet or the time even though there is nothing there, then he had his dinner and that seemed to come straight out too! Anyway the vet looked him over and said he is really really inflamed so gave him an inflamatry jab to last him till tuesday when we will be going back again,he still thinks it might be caused by stress and it can last for a few months :'( (I hope not) I just hope this works now :'(
-
Sorry there's not a quick fix hun, but these things can go on for a while. Just be safe in the knowledge that its not something seriously wrong, and whilst frustrating and upsetting for you, there will be a solution out there, you and the vets just need to find it
With my IBS, it stemmed from the break-up with my ex-partner over 6 years ago, moving house etc, all that was associated with it, and my symptoms have come and gone ever since. If I'm poorly, stressed or upset, it starts over again.
You may get symptoms recurring every now and then in the future, but learning to manage it is the key
-
:thanks: Clarenmax
The vet said he must be very painful for him too!
Hope you are feeling ok yourself :Luv:
-
I won't be tomorrow, was naughty and had a panini for lunch .... even though I know that wheat is not good for me
-
Gillian just looked at the websites Wow there is so much stuff to take in but will read it again :thanks:

They are good common sense sites which is what I liked about them. There is a lot to take in, I printed a lot of stuff out so I could read at leisure! I spent over a year researching raw diets before actually making the change.
Sorry you havent got a definitive answer to his poo problems.
-
:thanks: Gillian :Luv:
Hope you don't suffer to much Clarenmax :Luv:
-
So glad that it is nothing serious but sorry that little Simba is still not back to normal. Sending him huggles and lots of love. As Claire says it will take time, it really may be worth trying some Lacto B to help his tummy. You will be as bad as me soon and yelling "hurray" when he eventually does a "normal" poo.
-
Hooray....................
A few hours after we came back from the vet he livened up ;D playing with the others, the injection must of worked wonders. Will be taking him the vets again tomorrow at 2.30pm,and yes his poo's have hardened up :wow: (at last)Been busy all weekened with my son's footy matches, (all my 5 lads play footy)thats why haven't been on sooner+ sometimes I can't always get on the computer :'(
Ps :thanks: for all your well wishesxx
-
Hope things stay good ;D
-
:thanks: Gillxx
-
Yay, who'd have thought you've be so excited about a firm poo :evillaugh: :Luv:
Seriously though, good news, and I hope it continues ;D
-
Brilliant news - well done Simba xxx
-
:thanks: very much guys (I just hope nothing else goes wrong now :Luv:
-
Just come back from vets,he said that he doesn't feel so imflamed now :) but give us 2 more weeks of antibiotics when we will have to take him back again and I have to wean him off the inflamitries tabs and also wean him of the sensitive food.I asked him about the lacto b and he said yes about 3 days before he is finnished the tabs I can start him on it for a few weeks, then later on maybe just once a week.I can also frontline him which he said should be fine :scared: I have been to frightened to do them all while he hasn't been well. So hopefully all will be good really soon. :Luv:
-
That's good news, you'll probably also find that the rest of the inflammation with go when the anti'bs are finished, as they are not good for upset tums anyway :shy:
It sounds like you've turned a positive corner, so that's brilliant ;D
-
Thats really good news Felix, so glad that Simba is on the mend, I sitll give my 2 the Lacto B twice a week and they are mostly fine although we still have the occasional "loose poo"
but nothing to worry about.
-
Thanks guys, he does seem to be eating more than the others at the moment :Luv:
-
He is getting really fed up of taking the tablets now has started to struggle :scared:
He is eating more food than the others though ;)
-
What is he on? Some can be easily mixed in food.
The normal tricks may upset his stomach eg. cheese balls and defurem treats.
-
He is on Baytril antibiotics and Medrone inflamatries :thanks:
-
Baytril is sposed to be flavoured, with what i dont know
-
Oh ok :thanks:
