I don’t know if I ever mentioned how I came to have my Jeannie. About 14 years ago I received a phone call from a man who said his sister had a kitten  but kept in a cupboard under the stairs and he was going to take it off her, would I have her. Although there was no room at the inn what could I say. When the unnamed little one arrived I placed her in the lounge in a pen, but she screamed  and screamed it was terrible but I could not let her out as I had my own cats in the home,  in those days we did mix foster cats and owned cats but not for 3 weeks, (I know some diseases are airborne so the fact of being in a pen would not necessarily made such a difference). For a full 24 hours she screamed it was a nightmare, I took her to the vets for a vet check and as she was given the all clear allowed her out, unfortunately this was not good enough for Jeannie she still screamed, eventually all the door in the house except front and back. Somehow she was not interested in getting outside, but all the internal doors needed to be left open at all times as she ruined all the carpets trying to get out if a door was closed and the noise she made was heartbreaking. We named her Jeannie as we know someone who was going through a bad time when we took the little one in and crying all the time and her name was Jean. Although Jeannie was only a foster cat I could not let he go as I was worried that others may not have allowed her to roam anywhere in the home and I knew she would be unhappy if that were not possible. Well that was my excuse, in truth I had fell in love with her. Although I adore them all whatever their nature, occasionally there is a special one or two  ;D that just win an extra place in your heart.

So sorry to hear about Jeannie

With heavy hearts; and a tear in our eyes
after such a short time; we must say goodbye
Please understand; we've done all we could
if there was anything we could do; you know we would

I'm sitting right here; gently rubbing your ears
while I talk to you softly; trying to hold back the tears
The memories you gave us; we'll never forget
especially the ones; of the day we all met

One last hug; and one last kiss
you have no idea; how much you'll be missed
To look into your eyes; this one last time
you tell me it's ok; you know it's your time.

I am so sorry to hear this Ela, you gave her the best life, and then allowed her to go peacefully when it was obvious it was her time, and that is the best thing we can do for them. I am sorry it has been such a hard year for you though, RIP little one

Thank you so much for your messages. I would agree Liz they do seem to have a way of letting you know. Sadly some people do not pick up on those signs which I do understand  as we want to clutch at straws sometimes, but for our little ones sakes we have to let go. As posted earlier this is the 3rd and actually the last of my own cats this year, however, be it one of my own or a CP cat the decision is always very difficult.

So sorry to read this news Ela, maybe we in rescue have to make the decision more than the average cat owner, but it is still the hardest one and still heartbreaking.

RIP Jeannie. :candle:  Very much loved and missed by your mum.

Sadly I have let her go.  In 30 days she had gained 1 kg, Emma who has been tending to her said there were  tests they could do but she thought something serious was going on inside her tummy and her body was filling up with fluid. I said that it didn't matter how much the cost but I thought that maybe Jeannie had gone through enough and Emma agreed and said even after all the tests she thought I would need to make the decision for the final act of kindness. Emma is always reluctant to PTS even if there is the slightest chance so I know Jeannie’s time had come. Jeannie is the 3rd cat I have lost this year and now joins my Jessica and Gypsy. Now for the first time in over 40 years I have no cats that are actually mine.
