That picture has been taken within the first week. I'm informed they still separate them at night because they don't want to risk a problem while they're asleep, but both cats will sit with their paws under the door that is between them until it's opened again. Indie follows Ember around.

I've just had a call from my cousins boyfriend (which obviously made me panic immediately!) and he said that Ember is growling a lot at Indie at the moment, which was expected. However, Indies reaction is a bit unusual. (Well, I've never heard of it before.) Apparantly, when Ember approaches him, he rolls on his back and makes a nosie like a pigeon. I read this to mean he's trying to be non threatening. Anyone else have any ideas?

It's very quiet. My partner said last night he thinks the other cats are relieved. The youngest (who is a very nervous cat by nature and was utterly freaked out by Ember) came and had a fuss with him for a good half an hour, apparantly.

The others are seemingly just pleased they can sleep without interruption!

It was really difficult. But I have four cats of my own already ranging between 16 and 6. None of them were especially happy about the energy levels Ember expected them to have. The oldest has senility and my ten year old has diabetes; he was her favourite to jump on when all he wanted was to chill out.

Financially too, with my cats being older there are things to take into account. I did tell my cousin that if it didn't work out she was coming back here permanently, though.

Ember went to her new home at around 7 this evening. My cousin and her partner were amazed at the amount of luggage I'd accumulated for her in just over a month (new litter tray, new bed, play tunnel, new bowls, new toys, her own spider plant and cat grass) and played with her from the moment they came into the house - she'd run to the door when they knocked to investigate who it was!

They called me just over half an hour ago to say that she'd had something to eat, and had made the kitchen hers. She and Indie have been introduced briefly and other than a bit of growling and hissing, there has been no obvious aggression. (Body language was positive, no flattening of ears and such.)

I'll miss her living with me, but I'm hoping to pop up on Saturday to see how she's getting on.

All my cats are dotted around the house asleep; because they can without a full on attack from a kitten!

Hey, MM. My cousin is coming round for a cuppa and a chat (By that I mean rundown on Embers favourite places to be tickled, toys, plants she likes to eat - it's alright she's only allowed spider plants and catgrass!) at 6. I'm kind of dreading it and looking forward to it all at the same time.

And yep, I will be visiting her regularly. One of the things my cousin said when she phoned with the definate was "you can visit her whenever you want." It's a good job, because my partner had started having second thoughts about rehoming her! (To be honest, we both were. She's good at endearing herself to you! Although, not so good if you're a ten year old cat who just wants to chill out!)

I hope it all works out JS, and you'll still be able to keep in close contact with the little monkey! You've done a great thing taking her in and helping her when she needed it, well done. As Des says, it's what it's all about.

Always difficult when they go though.....I should be speaking to LittleLijah soon about possibly rehoming my foster, and I'm getting really wobbly about it! We know how you're feeling but it's all for the best and your residents will be happy to have their home and peace and quiet back

As it says in the title, we've got mixed feelings! My cousin called yesterday with a definate "yes." If her kitten, Indie takes to Ember she'll have a playmate her own age. I'll miss the little monkey, even if all she does is harass my cats, knock over plants and scale my curtains!
