Hi Helena,

Sorry for the delay in replying :)

I hope Storm is doing OK.  I cn't really offer much advice other than the fact that she has a litter tray indoors, in the warm might be the reason she is using it more ;)  As for the smelly poos cat poop naturally smells pungent due to a carnivore diet high in protein, which produces sulfur compounds and nitrogenous waste.
While a mild, consistent odor is normal, extremely foul-smelling, lingering odors may indicate digestive issues, parasites, or poor-quality food. Managing this involves high-quality diet, daily litter cleaning, and veterinary checks.

You mentioned she was a hunter so it could be parasites.

It might be worth a vet visit just to rule out the obvious issues.

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Storm’s litter box habits

Hi everybody,

I’m here to pick your brains about bowel habits as Storm has recently radically changed hers without any change to her diet, although she’s been on steroids  for low white cell count since late Oct. It has brought the count  back up to  normal and I’m hoping that with the last blood test she can come off them.

Prior to the last fortnight she’s only used her tray infrequently and then it has been only been when she can’t wait till morning, as I keep her in overnight. In the last fortnight she has been using the tray on an increasingly regular basis so now it’s pretty much a daily basis. That's not the issue really, it’s more the  fact that she’s  started to  not pee in the tray and her bowel actions have become smelly again. I read this thread https://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php?topic=48909.0 and though helpful, it didn’t  cover all my problems.

Storm is eating (here, at any rate) wet food from Untamed and Whiskas dry food. She’s also a hunter, and she eats the little mice she catches. This last has always been the case.

I’m not sure if I should worry yet,

Helen

PS Storm has always been a coy cat when  it  comes to using her tray - she need total silence and privacy before she’ll use it!
