Poor Archie, that looks sore, the only time I have seen anything like it was Trouble with his flea allergy years ago.

Thanks Sue  He has had a good night after a little more drooling at midnight.

He is still asleep on my bed so will give him a while longer before bathing and creaming the site :)

 :thanks:

Archie has thankfully stopped drooling now :)

A visit from Norty Sid has cheered him up again :)

Abcess looks more alarming since his fur was shaved but clean

Glad your Mum's cat is better now Rosella  It is good to hear you use Broadline :) I am always wary of new drugs :shy:

It was Advocate they had before and that did do ticks, just looked at the packet and you are right, advantage doesn't do ticks, so I'll have to ask the vets about it, I do have the twisty tick removal tools and I have done it, but I don't like doing it and the sight of ticks makes my skin crawl. They give me the shudders, especially when they are full. Poor Archie, Abscesses are horrid.

I used Broadline on all of ours and mom's cat a couple of months ago.  It didn't bother any of ours but does leave a white deposit that eventually wears off.

Saintly Bro said that moms cat was a wee bit below par for a week or so though but I didn't notice any difference in her behaviour tbh.  She was back to normal after a week or so though says saintly Bro. ...

Thank you  I have put the first lot of cream on so fingers crossed it starts to heal up

Have been a bit concerned as never used Broadline before. Poor Archie has been drooling but read if they lick the site this can happen :( Just keeping an eye on it

It seems to depend on the area you are in. Advantage doesn't do ticks and they are rife here. I use frontline on the dog as it does do ticks and no problems with any unwanted visitors. You can get Advantix which does ticks though.
Poor Archie I do hope the abscess clears quickly and he keeps comfortable.

I won't use frontline, quite a few years ago the fleas became immune to it, my vet recommended something else, then a bit later turned to Advantage, we have never had any problems with it and it does the tick, ear mite, and some of the worms as well, they still get the Milbumax every three months though as it doesn't cover tape worm.

Discovered a scabby lump on Archie's back this afternoon. Managed to get an appointment half an hour later ;D

Lovely vet who confirmed Archie has an abcess which looks clean at the moment. I have to bathe it twice a day in salty water and apply an antibiotic cream. The vet shaved the area which makes it easier.

She also gave him a new injection for fleas and worms, Broadline as Frontline not very effective any more
