YES IT COULD, ANY MEDS CAN HAVE SIDE EFFECTS.

Sorry about the delay in replying. The vet put her on steroids a few weeks ago and they seemed to be doing the trick. He wanted to see her tomorrow but we are taking her up today because her irritable bowel problem has started up again complete with mucus and blood. She hasn't had this problem for years....could it be the steroids?

THATS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT....VESTIBULAR DISEASE..... BUT FORGOT NAME! OFTEN IS WORSE ONE SIDE, I FALL TO LEFT.

I would maybe ask the vet about vestibular disease.  It can affect cats and dogs as well as people.  When it happens, does she seem a bit "spaced out?" and is there any difference in her eye movement (vestibular can often be spotted by  rapid eye movement or dilated pupils when an attack occurs.)

I HAVE A BALANCE PROBLEM, ITS NOT VERTIGO BUT BASICALLY THE BITS IN THE EARS THAT SHOULD BE FIXED HAVE BECOME UNFIXED AND GET INTO THE WRONG PART OF THE EAR.

RIGHT NOW I AM AFFECTED WHEN I FIRST LIE DOWN AND THEN AGIN AFTER LYING FOR A FEW HOURS, WHEN I TRY AND STAND UP. I HAVE BEEN ILL SINCE 1 JAN SO SUSPECT THERE IS A LINK.

I DONT KNOW IF CATS CAN HAVE AN INFECTION VIRUS LIKE I DID AND HAVE SAME PROBLEM.

WITH ME ITS LONG STANDING, WAS TAKEN ILL IN 2003 BUT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME YOUR BRAIN ADJUSTS SO ITS NOT SO MUCH A PROBLEM.

ITS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE SEEN EVEN ON AN MRI SCAN AND AN ORDINARY DOCTOR DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS, i HAD TO SEE AN EAR SPECIALIST BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS I CAN TALK WHICH SADLY A CAT CANNOT DO.

MOVEMENT OF THE POSITION OF THE HEAD CAUSES PROBLEMS AND THINK BUT NOT SURE THAT VERTIGO IS THERE ALL THE TIME AT ITS WORSE BUT IS ALSO BROUGHT ON BY HEIGHTS.  IF SHE GOES OUTSIDE NORMALLY I WOULD STOP HER RIGHT NOW SO YOU CAN MAKE SURE SHE DOESNT CLIMB HIGH AND JUMP.

ALSO WONDERING IF SHE HAS HAD A MINOR STROKE.....HOW OLD IS SHE?

I HOPE THE ABS ABD STUFF HELP BUT WILL ONLY HELP IF ITS AN INFECTION.

I had read about the vertigo issue in cats, trouble is with me is that I always fear the worse when it comes to Coco's health, the vet wants to see us again next week.

Dizziness in cats.

Coco has been having dizzy spells of and on for a couple of weeks. Her blood test was fine and her ears were checked and the vet saw some moisture in one. She gave me the appropriate medication then I had to return the following week. Anyway to cut a long story short she got some of that black waxy stuff in both ears and was dizzy again. The vet gave her two injections and steroid and antibiotic tablets. When I first took her a few weeks ago she seemed to be dropping at the back on one side. That seems to have gone (touch wood) but now it is at the front if she turns or shakes her head. She is eating well (10lb 4oz and has a fat tummy). I worry about her all the time. She can jump up on things it is just when she turns her head at times.

Hope you are all OK it has been a couple of years since I was last on here.  :hug:
