yes tried the gourmet soups spent a fortune in pets at home at the weekend stocking up on various foods to tempt her.  Luckily we have 2 other cats and a stray cat we feed so once I have opened a tin and she turns her nose up, the other 3 get a nice treat!  Update on her - she has now been in her tray and done 2 little solid poops and a runny one :evillaugh:

Tabby not eaten quite so much today, but still loving her lick e lix with her meds in so that's good.  Have tried 3 different kinds of food for madam, the only one she attempted was felix in jelly, she licked all the jelly off but she has eaten quite a few biscuits.  She has had the squits for a few days, but so far today nothing in the tray. Not sure if that's a good sign or not............. ;D

After giving Tabby a bit of a teary pep talk last night, telling her she had to eat or she would fade away, I woke up at 630am, went into the bathroom where she is camped out by the radiator to see a clean bowl! She had eaten everything overnight, also ate some breakfast and when I got home today at 430pm she ate some more felix in gravy :innocent: She still has the runs though, and there were a few blobs of not quite completely runny poos in her tray. I bought her some new litter, the Sanicat one which is like granules of sand, thinking it would be better for her. Big mistake! Where she had sat down in the litter tray she had loads of sand stuck all round her butt hole, so I spent ages picking it all off and washing her bum. She was not impressed! have replaced it now with her normal litter. So everything crossed now she is getting her appetite back and I can restart her thyroid/kidney meds again. That's another bunch of greys hairs for me for 2017 ;D

I would ask the vet for an anti nausea and a Vit B shot seems to perk up the appetite when mine need a boost - also have you tried the Complivit food supplement wonderful stuff 1 pump equals a 4 kg cats full days calories looks a bit like Bovril and can be got at most vets about £15.00 a tube for a better word but has been a god send with my oldies and it can be pumped straight in to the mouth as well

Tabby is still just about eating the antibiotic in her Lick-e-lix but not much else, had a few biscuits here and there. I bought her some Royal Canin 12+ biscuits which are meant to boost their appetite :P  She seems interested in food, has a few licks when i put something down but then turns away.  SHe is on Clavaseptin, I googled it and it says side effects are nausea, loss of appetite and diarrhea, which she has in small amounts, but then she isnt eating much. Not sure whether to ring the vet tomorrow or not, they did say they wanted to keep her on a drip a bit longer but they were closing down for new year.  Do I wait another day or so or should I ring?  :(

just got home and went up to see her, she hadnt touched her food i left earlier, but i got some asda tiger mousse and put it on a plate and she started licking it. I then got a lick e lix and squirted some on the plate and she licked all that off too, so everything crossed she is feeling a bit better now as she must have eaten about 3/4 teaspoon of food as well as the lick -e  lix! so will try and hide the antibiotic in it later on for her :evillaugh:

Do you have some lick-e-licks Heather? I swear by them for disguising a crushed pill. Otherwise a good gob of butter helps the pill go down.

Hope she recovers soon. Have a peaceful evening x

Spoke to vet nurse today, Tabby had comfortable night and seemed a little brighter today, she has eaten small amounts and a few kibbles and no more blood in her wee. She is staying in again overnight on her drip and hopefully will come home tomorrow midday as they close for the New Year. Miss my little geriatric moggy, so still hoping its just an infection she had and nothing worse! :Luv:

Tabby not well
« Reply #1 on: December 29, 2016, 19:02:39 PM »
My poor old Tabby who is 21 had not eaten since Christmas Eve but drinking lots, she always drinks a lot and just showed no interest in food at all. Took her to vets last night, had to go to a different branch as no vet in my normal one, the chief vet spent an hour with us, well we were the last patient of the day, he kept saying she was sooooo old but he did a blood test and we waited for results. Her WBC was 40.0 and her kidney enzymes were raised too.(around 42).  He was worried about kidney failure. Also said one kidney was bigger than the other. He kept calling her Grandma too, poor Tabby was not impressed!!!  :-[  He wanted to keep her in overnight on a drip but we settled for antibiotic injection, a huge bolus of fluid under the skin as she was dehydrated and to bring her back this morning to go on a drip all day. I spoke to him this afternoon and he said she had blood in her urine, a lot, so could be an infection or something serious higher up. Not worth going down the route of xrays ultrasounds etc in a cat that age, but he did say she had eaten a mouthful of food today which is a good sign. So she is staying in on a drip tonight, had more antibiotics and will see how she is tomorrow. She is a little fighter, am hoping its just an infection and she will pull through :(
