Done.  Would never leave a cat (or a dog) of mine un-neutered.

Hi Sarraa, I've filled in your questionnaire. I do think pretty much everyone on this forum will be very pro neutering as most have rescue cats or are involved with shelters. They see the amount of unwanted pets that are born every year. So I don't think you will find it a very representative sample of the general cat owning public.

Good luck with your dissertation.

Thank you, don't worry, i'm pretty much expecting the majority of cat owners to be pro-neutering (even breeders). The benefits are really obvious  to anyone thinking of neutering their pet after all. Plus, all vets are constantly recommending that people neuter their pets ;) I have tried to share my questionnaire all over facebook and twitter too so hopefully that'll help to balance things out, maybe :)

also done - one question, I really don't have any idea, are their gods who get that involved in day to day life that they don't approve of neutering????

Haha, I see your point. ;D The reason I put that in is because I know that in Islam (because i'm a Muslim) we're not supposed to cause suffering to animals unless there is a real benefit to them. If there wasn't such a huge problem with overpopulation/abandonment of cats and dogs in the UK, there wouldn't be a reason to neuter them and it would count as putting them through unnecessary suffering. I had to double check that when I was getting my rescue cat neutered because I wasn't sure. This made me curious to know whether there were similar sort of guidelines in other religions. For all I know, Catholics might not approve of neutering because they don't believe in contraception and birth control. It applies to humans so it might apply to animals as well for all I know *shrugs* :)

Completed. I agree that most of us here are likely to be strongly in favour of neutering.

I wondered about that one Dawn. I know traditionally Catholics don't use birth control but didn't think it included pets.

Hello fellow cat lovers, my name is Sarraa Abdulkader and I have one ginger and white, rescue moggie who goes by the name of Jelly (hence my username). She has me wrapped around her little paws and I love her to pieces  :Luv:

I’ve mainly joined the forum to pick the brains of all you cat owners out there :) As well as being a cat lover and owner, I’m also a final year university student doing my dissertation on the factors that influence the decision to neuter a cat or dog in the UK. I know it’s a topic that we all have to think about as cat owners and I'd love to know the reasons why you’ve decided to neuter (or not neuter) your cats. I’ve made a questionnaire for you to fill out and I'd really appreciate your help. :) Thanks in advance to all of you who take part! Here’s a link to my questionnaire: http://goo.gl/forms/stQmVmlfJN

If my post breaks the rules, tell me and i'll be happy to remove it  :thanks:
