if he hangs around after the snip, and stops spraying, your boys might get slowly get used to him - it would help though if he could have a shelter outside the cat-proofed bit, and not be able to get in

my Tosker spent 3 months living outside my cat enclosure, and my two were used to him hanging about by the time he decided to come indoors, so there was very little aggression

I will find a way to keep him in overnight after the op.

I have already deflea'd him

and great idea to get him chipped with the op

He is dying to come in the house and sooo loves cuddles and playing. Such a gentle lad.

I have seen him outside with other cats and he is not bothered by them as has let other owned neighbourhood cats step in and eat his dinner while he watches.

He has got into our back garden in the day which is cat proofed from cats getting out but not in!

Me or Steve has to get our lads in and let him out the side gate every time. He has sprayed in there and my boys just don't like it as it's their only outside space, they are very cautious going out there now just by smelling his spray. I am not sure if my lads and him have come into contact yet as they are allowed to go out and in at night as they please in their garden though their microchip cat flap.

If you can get your paws on a large dog crate covered over for the night with a bed, litter tray or lined with Puppy training pads, food and a clip on water bowl and let him free the next day that would suffice its what my let them go trapees get in the dog run so not bothered by the outside ferals

If whilst getting his bits off I would also flea treat, ID chip and a full set of injections - my vet now knows this is standard for anything we trap and they are chipped to me so should they wander as is their want and anything happens I will be notified

All the ferals I've trapped round here I've released late the same day (as advised by my vet and CP). I trapped them early morn, took them to vets about 8.30ish, then the vet takes them to main surgery in town to spay/neuter them and do other ops at 10.30 and brings them back at 4 to do afternoon appointments. I picked them up at 4 and was told to keep them somewhere warm and quiet until late evening 11pm ish then they could be released, so I kept them in house or in garage 'til about that time. I've trapped quite a few now and they've all been fine touch wood, in fact they've shot off found their pals then come straight back within half hour for food. Having said that, I'd go with what your vet says, someone asked the same question on CC recently because their vet said to keep in longer, so there could be reasons they say that, it's good you can keep close eye on him though if he's friendly

He's a cutie right enough, Tan.
No, he can't go straight outside, the anaesthetic makes them drunk and vulnerable for a good 12 hours so he really needs to be kept inside somewhere safe overnight after his op.

However, in my (extremely recent) experience, they tend to sleep really soundly after a good nosh, so he'd be fine on a soft blanket in a shed or garage, just for one night. You could pop a litter tray in with him but as long as he gets a good sleep somewhere safe he'd be fine to be set free the next morning.

If you don't have anywhere for him to sleep it off, why not ask the vet to keep him overnight?

I'd offer him a sleepover if I were a bit closer, but then I'd be forced to keep him! (OH says no, no way, absolutely no flippin chance lady NO .... hmmm )

My latest project Ivan has just been through his castration yesterday

and been set free this morning, he's still hovering around the back garden, wondering where he left his libido.

Hope someone steps up for Mr Blue, he's a real sweetheart.

Hi Everybuddies

For the last few months, we have had a absolutely gorgeous stray boy

coming for food. We call him Mr Blue.
He was scared at 1st coming up to us but now he is sooooo affectionate and very gentle, You can stroke his belly and no claws out at all.

He is a young boy about 2 yrs old, I am not sure if he is a breed ie Bristish Blue?, sadly not neutered.

So far we have done the paper collar, found posters in local area, scanned for chip (no chip), asked for a space at local rescues but sadly no space available yet. We have put out two shelters for him, one large outside wooden hut which is out of any public view/walkway at the back of the houses and another kat-kabin by our front door so he has a place to go out of the rain etc. Me or Steve feed him regularly. He now basically living here. So sadly he does want to come into the house but I just can't let him in with my two boys (indoor and cat proofed garden only) as they are already aware of him from his smell coming in to the house from the front door and no like it!

He is not neutered, so the next step is to get him done and homed in a loving home. We are happy to cover the vet costs but my vets like to have somewhere for him to go inside for 24 hrs after the neutering op but I can't let him in here and sadly as he would still spray for a time after no neighbours have the room for him to go.

Sooo questions are when we get him done, is it ok for him to be let outside again as soon as he comes back from vets (ie like trap neuter and return for strays)

and is there anyone that could offer him a loving home? Hopefully before it gets bad weather.
