Received the funniest text from Helen today.

You didn't tell me he was a cheese fiend. He's just pinched my stilton!

That's my boy!!

Dave, I don't know the reason why you've had to rehome Beau, but it's very obvious that you have always had his best interests at heart. It must be very hard for you but I'm glad that Helen has made this process easier for you

I'd like to say a huge, great big thank you to Helen for giving Beau the best ever home any cat could have wished for.

Her passion for animals was obvious when I first visited Helen at her home and I knew immediately Beau would not just be well cared for, but would also be spoilt rotten  ;D

Rehoming Beau has been extremely difficult and I miss him terribly, especially in the morning when he would lay next to my head and do his four legged furry alarm clock routine by purring loudly! There are days when I feel completely wretched, as though I've abandoned my best friend, but I also know Beau will now be safe, loved and never want for anything.

Helen has made the whole process so much easier with regular updates and pics, which has given me the reassurance that Beau is doing just fine. When she told me he was following her around asking for food I knew things were going to be ok. Beau is like a soldier - you only need to worry when he stops complaining :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Helen.

Just to update everyone. Beau has come to live and be my joint master with Bobby ;). He is settling in well and has trained not just myself but also my staff as to the correct method and when to give dreamies :Luv2:. He has made himself a hidy hole behind my computer as well as taking over my footstool  sorry I have it wrong his throne / bed  :sneaky:

Hi Helen,

Well, you certainly have a bit of cat heaven there. Any room for me? :)

The location is ideal, with lots of fields for Beau to go mousing, and I can't think of anyone who would be more qualified to ensure his welfare.

I'm not sure how (or if) you'd like to proceed?

If you want to give it some thought and get back to me, thats fine.

Thanks
Dave

Hi Helen,

As long as Bobby is reasonably laid back I'm sure Beau would be fine.

Could I ask what the name of your cattery business is?

Dave

Hi Dave,

Bobby (is 13/14 years old) and has been fine with other cats in the past, but he has been living as a single cat for over a year now so I do not how he would react for certain. It would be up to you.

Hi Helen,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Beau has been one of two cats in the past. As long as the other cat is not aggressive (Beau is a 'brave coward' sort of guy) it's not a problem. He'll never be the sort to cuddle up with another cat, but as long as he knows he wont be on the receiving end of a swipe he has no problem sharing head butts :)

My previous neighbours used to have a cat who was daft as a brush and he and Beau became quite good friends and would follow each other around the fields all day, or play 'lie in the garden and see how far we can stretch before our paws touch!' So a lot would depend on Bobby's temperament.

Beau looks so hansom, :Luv:
I live semi rurally,  (no main road and a long drive) on the edge of Manchester, running a boarding cattery. I live alone,  no dogs and plenty of customers as well as myself to be trained to fuss Beau.
However,  I do have a cat, Bobby, who has shared his home with up to 4 other cats  in the past and I notice  you would prefer a pet free home. I hope you you find  him a place soon

Still looking for a safe, loving home for Beau.

Sarndra, at North West Pedigree Cat Rescue has kindly offered to put Beau's details on their site, but no luck so far.

Beau Needs Your Help - Lancashire
« Reply #1 on: October 10, 2013, 21:07:55 PM »
I'm cross posting this from Catchat.

I haven't been on the forum for a while, but those who remember me will probably appreciate that I wouldn't be doing this unless there was a VERY good reason.

I don't want to go into the specifics on a public forum because I want the focus to be entirely on getting Beau a new, safe and loving home and not get bogged down with well intentioned messages. I hope you'll understand.

This is quite simply the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I'm determined to ensure that Beau's welfare is taken care of before my situation gets any worse.

I've given my login details for the forum and email to my sister in law, so if I'm unable to post she has my full authority to make decisions on my behalf.

I hope someone can help me find Beau a safe, loving new forever home.

BEAU
Beau is a full pedigree British Shorthair tabby who's been with me since kittenhood. He's 9 years of age, built like a lion, gentle as a lamb (unless it involves anything that's small, furry and happens to go squeak) and can hold his own when it comes to being mischievous and nosy.

He loves the outdoors and has spent most of his life in rural areas. As he's not the most road savvy it's imperative he's not rehomed anywhere near a main or busy road.

His other love is checking out anything protected by a door. So if you're the kind of person who likes backup when opening cupboard doors, he's your man.

He'll also spend as much time as possible lying on his back whilst you give him a thoroughly intensive tummy scratch. This is a major part of his day and as far as he's concerned is non-negotiable.

He's not a lap cat as such, which is probably a good thing as your legs would ache after a while, but he does like to lie next to you and wrap his paws around your arm. This is particuarly useful if you need to practice your one handed book/newspaper/magazine reading skills!

His other party trick is waiting for visitors to settle, then he'll sit in the middle of the room and begin his personal hygene routine. It's a real icebreaker!

He is not a fussy eater by any stretch of the imagination and you'll never be guilty of forgetting a meal time as he'll wander from room to room announcing to anyone who'll listen that you obviously wish starvation upon him.

He has always had the use of a cat flap, but once he's had his final meal of the day the flap is locked and he stays in for the night. He is also used to having a litter tray.

He is in tip-top health and is regularly de-flead and wormed and is of course neutered. He doesn't like collars and has ended up with a couple caught in his mouth whilst attempting to get them off. He is however microchipped.

Beau is tolerant of other cats but prefers his own company. He wouldn't be happy with a dog in the household either. Although he'd be ok with older children, younger children would not be his cup of tea.

Ideally, the best kind of home for Beau would be rural/semi-rural, no other pets and no young children. And preferably, a home with cupboards where he can practice his SAS hostage rescue skills!

I will travel anywhere in the country if it means finding the right home for Beau.

If you can help, or know anyone who can, please, please let me know.

Thank you

Dave
