Just thought id update, she lost lots of weight the week she was poorly and shes been kept as an indoor cat since. Funnily enough weve been feeding her the same food we always have done so wet and even with her being inside shes looking normal (meaning not a barrel on legs). We'll get her weighed in jan when shes due her boosters at the vets but I think were just going to have a tubby cat due to her visiting others during summer and a slimmer cat over winter

I respectfully disagree with your vet re dry food! I don't think vets are very knowledgeable about nutrition tbh. I think dry food is more likely to put in weight due to the carbs.

I respectfully disagree with your vet re dry food! I don't think vets are very knowledgeable about nutrition tbh. I think dry food is more likely to put in weight due to the carbs.

She is tiny although slightly roundish in shape at the moment. She is a small cat so her being that weight is really to much for her

Denzel is about 3.5 I think, and in my opinion pretty slender

It's probably ok for a while but the problem is they do tend to get addicted to dry food. Xander won't eat any wet food now, nothing not even fresh organic chicken or tuna. I do worry about his diet, he used to eat quite a few different things but as he's got older he won't try anything new.

They didnt try to sell us anything or get us to switch foods, not sure what to do now as dh is saying thats what they've told us so thats what we need to do

I think you are 100% right there Sheila.

Before and after photos needed. I don't think that's too heavy. Thing is, vets, unlike doctors can not blame everything on drinking and smoking, so it only leaves being over weight to blame

She weighs over 3.5 kg and should weigh about 2.5kg the nurse said to cut out her wet food and only give her dry food and take her back in a month for re weighing. I thought they'd have said cut out the dry food but we'll just have to see I guess

Same here, Sly can't exercise because of his wobbly legs and Polly's also a bit rotund these days (although she's spritely enough) so any hints will be welcome.

I'll be interested to hear what they say as Simba is a heavy old lump yet the vet said his weight was ok when I took him a couple of weeks ago.

dh is off work tomorrow so he can carry her, spoke to the nurse and they said the first thng they'll do is weigh her and then discuss her diet, really just want to know how worried i should be about her weight. she has slowly lost some as i've been able to find who she's having extra meals with and asked them to stop feeding her but i know she's going somewhere else as well just cant find out where, dh is on about fitting her with gps just to figure it out

Me and dh have both agreed we need to do something about her weight. Shes looking like a barrel with legs at the moment so asked the vet and they run a fat club so she's having her first visit tomorrow
