What a great idea,i wish there were some clubs like that around here-Chelmsford.

Hi Cat girl, Thanks for the welcome.

To be honest Chelmsford is not too far - I think that you can get a train straight to Stratford?

Do come in the future if you can.

Sally

In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Thanks for the reply Sheila Rose, Ill have a look at that link and find out if there is a Newham one.

Do join on facebook or Meetup.com and see how we progress, there is no pressure to actually come to a meeting.

I called it the Newham Cat Society just as a name really, people have come from far and wide so far, Croydon, Kensington etc and one lovely member lives in Leyton, not to far from you I guess.

And thanks for the compliment about the idea - Since starting the group I have realised that actually Cat ownership is quite an isolate experience really (not like having a dog and taking it out for a walk everyday, chatting with other owners)  The group members are really keen just to come along and have a chat about their cats which we dont all get the opportunity to do much.

Its all taken off really, and is very exciting -

Hi Sally and  :welcome: to Purrs. I'm not far from you in Waltham Forest so will be watching your group with interest.
You might like to know about our Borough's brand new magazine "E List"

http://issuu.com/e17_listings/docs/e-list_march_web

which covers all events in Walthamstow. Not sure if Newham has one yet? You might like to contact them re placing a small article? I know you're not strictly Waltham Forest but you might find some like minds up this way, and it's only a bus ride away. Like your ideas very much, good luck.  ;)

Hello,

My name is Sally and a few months ago I started a new club called the Newham Cat Society.  We are based in East London and are really just a group of mad cat lovers who want to come together once a month and share our stories, experiences and love of all things cat.

I joined here to let people know about the group and hopefully find some people that might like to come and speak at one of our meetings!

If you are interested find out more here;

http://www.meetup.com/The-Newham-Cat-Society/

and here;

Thanks for reading this!

Sally
