I indirectly help a cat charity in south east London. They are centrally given a list of vaccines that are "OK" to use; one of the cheapest I am told is the above, which they use. They used to use it without the leukemia element which was even cheaper I understand. Anyway, it has been reported to me that quite a few kittens who have had this vaccine have developed chronic diarrhoea and have died, usually the weakest kitten in the litter. Although it cannot be proven that this vaccine is the cause of these deaths yet, I'd recommend you look into it for yourself before you decide to have it administered. I am advised that there is one excellent vet in the south east area who refuses to use this vaccine because of the side effects. There is no rule that dictates what age you have your kitten vaccinated at 9 weeks, so why not wait until he or she has a nice strong immune system before you give him/her the vaccine of YOUR choice. It's important to vaccinate your cat against these viruses. When a kitten is adopted from a cat charity it has usually had it's first injection and been microchipped the cost of which is sometimes covered by the donation made. The kit usually won't be released until it has been vaccinated. However, it's worth checking when you view whether this has taken place. If not you can ask them which vaccine they plan to use and ask for an alternative to be used. But do your own research first. If you know of any groups who are flagging up problems with this particular vaccine with or without the leukemia element please let me know. Thanks.
