6 weeks is very young but you'll get plenty of support here  ;D I will follow your other post  :)
I got my Nuggie (formally Nugget due to his tiny size - he is now a Lion and his Rep is ruined  :rofl:) at 5 weeks - much the same as you. Several farm cats, several litters within a short space of time (I initially rang about one Litter and they'd all gone so they took my number for the newborns  :-[ ) and so they were weaned and ready to go far to early.

They did offer to keep him an extra week when I expressed my concern at how young they were and still looked but Nuggie didnt have the little pot belly kittens have and worried if he'd make it as they were insistant he was weaned and independant  >:( >:( makes me so mad. Anyway - hes nearly 10 now. No problems although i did have to help him go to the loo occasionally (just a rub of the belly) and he isnt "Cat Socialised" as his mother never got to teach him all the basics. He is mammys boy and only liked his older brother Tazi who has now gone. I adopted Peanut and on the whole all isnt too bad but he just doesnt really know what to do and is more nervous than anything. They sniff noses but as soon as Peanut moves he panics and punches him on the nose  :rofl: :rofl:

As you know Gizmo is very young to be taken away from Mum but sounds like these people were determined to be 'rid' of him so at least he is going to be in a resposnible and loving home now  :hug: Wishing you many, many years of happiness, fun and laughter ahead of you :)  :hug:

Gosh, that is going to be a tiny little one for you to look after, but eminently do-able with the right support, and there's plenty of that on here.  Plus, as Dawn's already said, he's probably better off with you than he would otherwise be left where he is.    :hug: :hug:

Your little friend is going to have a bit more growing up to do that he would normally spend with his Mum. Don't worry, people on here will support you every step.
He'll need a warm spot to sleep as single kittens get cold easily. Worth popping him on a heatpad or electric blanket until he's a wee bit bigger.

Have a look in the section dedicated to Cats Health and Behaviour, some of the "pegged" topics will be of real use to you bringing a young kitten home. Mostly, though, you will get tons of help from the folk who run rescues and are currently bring up tiny ones themselves.

Here's your first Purrs link to our basic cat care guide for kittens. You'll know a lot of this already, but I just read through and there's some good stuff worth refreshing yourself on.

hi and welcome, yes you are right six weeks is tiny but it does sound like the baby will be better off with you, I saw in your other post you are going to the vets so I'm sure they will be able to give you lots of advice, we do have lots of people who rescue little ones like this so hopefully someone who knows a bit more will be along soon!

Hello good people  :)

My name is jen and I have joined the forum as I kinda need some help.

A bit of background info: at the weekend my sister rang to say she'd heard that an acquaintance of a friend was giving away a litter of kittens, they were 5 1/2 weeks old  >:( Anyway, I am having the remaining kitten and talked them into keeping him for a few extra days til he turned 6 weeks, so as of 2.30 today I will be his mummy forever  :Luv: (they are the kind of people who don't give a damn where the babies end up and I was so scared that if I got them to keep him any longer than today he could have gone to anyone else as they tried to push me into taking him there and then)

I am really worried about having such a little baby, will he need any extra care (I will post this in the appropriate section too)?

The last kittens I came into contact with were 15 years ago when my mum didn't know any better and our old cat had a litter (mum still has one of them, Cleo, my nan has George and the other 3 mum is still friends with their slaves!) so it is very new to me.

Weirdly, Cleo's mum was called Gizmo and she was all white, new baby is also white and they have apparently nicknamed him Gizmo-sorry if this sounds corny but I believe it was meant to be  :shy:

As a side, can anyone suggest any nice, alternative, spiritual names for a little white cat??
