The year before last (or was it the year before that, doesn't time fly ) my new computer completely crashed under the strain and I had to drag the old one out from the junk cupboard and hurriedly plug it all in with minutes to go... now THAT was stressful  :evillaugh:

Dave is rather partial to pink too, so much so that when I changed a cushion on a chair from a pink one to a turquoise one he stopped sleeping on it! :evillaugh:

The boys' pocket money auction goodies arrived today... lets hope there are lots of bidders with female cats as you couldn'y choose the colour on most items and there's a high proportion of PINK stuff  :evillaugh:

Yes all explained in the Instructions which you should be able to see now and the key part of the bidding is the 1p here and there LOL because bids last for the whole time of the auction and cease immediately at the declared time according to the Purrs clock.

At that point bids stop even if they are 1 second late and will not count.

Dont worry there will be reminders and allsorts during the auction  ;D

From then on an army of auction team peeps will spend the next few hours posting on every thread saying who the winner is for each item and what to do for the winning bidder and the auctioneer and how to move da Squids  :evillaugh:

Last year we had all the money in or in post in 24 hours which was brilliant, so it meant that although items were still being packaged and sprinted to the post office, Tan could transfer the money to the Rescue before Christmas.

Tan is totally in charge of the money side and I will be doing the spreadsheet to keep track of things during the auction and then Tan will use this to keep track of the money.

We still need late night volunteers to learn how to do the nightly round up and if you are interested I am the teacher, so please contact me if you are interested. Its a totally vital part of the auction and goes unnoticed by the rest but soooooooooo important to bring in the money.

I cant do it any more due to health problems but anyone who can help will be welcomed.

Sam has brought in the commercial givers and its a real team effort now as the auction is so big and I know so many Purrs members are new but its a great fun occasion and hope as many as possible will get involved in the madness  :innocent:

This will be my first auction with Purrs (What's that? You thought I'd be older...)

So let me see...  :reading 2:

I have an item suitable for the auction, brand new, cat related, mine to donate etc etc

I take it's  :pic:  work out the postage, post it on the thread not before the start date, and wait for the bids to come in?

The next bit I don't quite get because I'm a bit slow first thing in the morning  :good morning 2:

At what point does bidding end and how do I know who won and where to post the item?

Sheilrose it's all explained on here ... http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,39381.0.html

Don't worry once things get going it'll become clear how it all works :)

If I remember correctly the bidding continues until the end of the auction as a whole (can't remember the date and time) then the winning bidder will PM you with their address and you post the item/s off when receipt of payment has been confirmed by the mods.

Be afraid peeps - be very afraid.   :shify:  This year I will be able to bid on things for the cats as well as the general stuff.   :sneaky:
My two have already given me a wish list and at the top is anything edible, then a new bed - they don't even have one between them.  :-[
They'd also like anything edible, some toys, and errrm  anything edible.   Are there any edible toys?  Or edible beds?  Consider them mine if there are mine if there are.

............... and I might even be able to afford the odd mug or two, or three...  :evillaugh:

Just a sneaky little tease ... we have had some lovely commercial donations again .... including some beautiful jewellery, things for cats to eat, play with, sleep in (not just the carboard boxes!!), wear and scratch till their little hearts content and of course what would the xmas aution be without the usual selection of ........ MUGS!!!!!  and much more besides.

We have some really lovely items this year from a variety of donors including everyones favouite ...Simon's Cat  :Luv2:

So dig deep peeps and lets make the 2011 auction another great success.

Well the boys have been saving their pocket money all year and have bought some things to go in the auction, I expect there'll be some foot paw stamping closer to the time as they will want to keep some of the things but I will remain firm and remind them of all the cats and kittens who don't have a forever home who they will be helping  :)
