Sorry, not heard anything .
Not sure she is very ethical and not happy with this rescue to be honest anymore.

Hi Bunglycat, it's probably advisable to ask Tan's permission before posting

We have taken in the sweetest, most gentle male cream Persian from a veterinary hospital this week. Vet nurse Amy who cared for him (and fell in love with him) at the vets he's relocated from, had called him Asparagus and we think that's a really perfect name!!!

Sadly our lovely Asparagus is still rather unwell and we need to start raising funds to support his vet-care, daily care and rather costly anti-virals. It's clearly going to be uphill with this chap but early signs are that he has the determination to get better.

We wish to thank Rutland House Referrals in St Helens, Merseyside, both for saving this cat and doing an absolutely sterling job, involving several weeks costly treatments -- which they took on themselves -- and lots of hard work, in getting him this far along the road to recovery. We also, of course, thank Rutland House for allowing us to continue his care.

Big thanks, too, to RSPCA for paying £52 towards his vet bill while he was at Rutland House.

There is some way to go yet and we expect to have Asparagus in our care for many months. We will seek a longterm foster home for this gorgeous chap but either way, he needs funding as we expect to continue paying for his care when he moves to a foster home.

This is how Asparagus came to need rescue :

Asparagus was found in a terrible state wandering in Merseyside.

He was matted solid, riddled with fleas, and was extremely weak and ill from cat flu caused by herpes virus.

His vet history shows he's had mouth ulcers, eye ulceration, constant breathing difficulties and has been generally very below par, at times struggling to show interest in life and losing all appetite. He nearly had to have his right eye removed and this is still touch-and-go but with intensive antibiotic treatment we hope it will be saved.

He is still struggling with breathing and the virus shows little sign of abating yet, but Asparagus loves cuddles and all forms of attention and affection, and he does better the more cuddles he gets! Don't we all....

He is the gentlest little man ever, taking all forms of medication readily, and reaching out his spindly little paw to stroke my (Rescue Manager's) face at any opportunity. He is just so CUTE!

He's avoided euthanasia and pulled through but his ongoing care will be costly. We are grateful for all help and if anyone would like to foster him long-term, all costs met by Chapelhouse Persian Rescue, please get in touch but do discuss the implications of the herpes virus with your vet first, if you have other cats.

Please refrain from calling Rutland House with enquiries as they have handed Asparagus into our care and are of course very busy indeed. We name them just to show our thanks and acknowledgement of the fantastic work done for this cat.

We think the compassion and care shown for this animal illustrate very nicely why we maintain a Vet Fund....to help vets to provide urgent help to cats like Asparagus!

Thank you for donating. If funds given exceed what's needed in the end for Asparagus, we will put surplus into our Vet Fund for other Persians at vet practices.

Hope no-one minds me posting this .
