Just a quick update - Harry went to a new home this week :) Its very quiet here without him chirruping to the kittens to get them to chase him up the stairs, but he is very happy and settled already.

Nothing seems to surprise our Harry

This was him and his 2 brothers and sister when he first arrived aged 6 weeks. His mum, her friend and all his siblings are now in their new forever homes and poor Harry is still with  me and my mad lot

Now where have I seen this photo before???

He also does potty dogs too!

Gill, I`m sure Lupin would fall in love with any of them. They are used to hooligans! Big foster brother Harry is 6 months old and absolutely adores them. He chirrups for them to chase him around the house, and will wash them for ages. :Luv2:

This is Harry in one of his rare "still" moments. Usually he is a blur of playfulness.

Lois has proved to be such a star this weekend. We had 4 slightly older kittens come in via the vets after being abandonded. Bless them the two little boys were not even fully weaned, and Lois has taken them under her paw. Her own 4 are now eating solids with the occasional feed and and she seems happy to top the newbies up too.

They are all getting along fab, and you can really see Lottie and William getting stronger by the day. They can certainly keep up with the older ones too.

Will try to get photos, but a bit hectic here trying to decorate. Where they will go when we start the sitting room is a bit of an open question at the mo

The babes are all doing well, and seem to be getting bigger and stronger daily. They had playtime with my friend and her daughter yesterday, all loved it!

Took these today, how cute is Womble?   :Luv2:

Lottie and William are harder to photo, either moving (and wobbling), eating or asleep and still!

Quick update - 4 weeks and a day old today. Lulu and William - CH boy - both had some kitten food this am. Very slowly but defo interested. This is where it gets messay

They seem to be doing well, Lulu has a good set of lungs on her and made it very clear to all that she wanted out of the pen for a wander about this am.

depending on how severe the CH is then you will notice it more as they become more mobile anyway -kittens are always a bit wobbly on legs -CH cats tend to walk stiff legged -the head wobbles are more noticeable when excited or concentrating or stressed and will improve when the muscles strengthen with age -exercise is important for these cats as the muscles need to develop as best they can .
some CH cats have impaired vision which can also make the head wobbley.

I attempted to video Lottie and William this am, so we can compare them in a few weeks time and see how their mobility has changed.  Still yet to work out how to download it to PC though.

Yesterday both Judith and I thought that Lottie looked stronger and her neck movements were less erratic, if you know what I mean. Judith is a better judge as she doesnt see them daily.

Lottie is a bit of a madam. She spent a good 10 mins last night playing pokey-paw with Harry (5 months old), through the bar of the pen. Gave as good as she got.

Lovely mum and babies -CH cats are special and as long as it is CH and not other problems causing the ataxia then as long as it is not too severe they will lead happy if a bit wobbly lives  :Luv:
there's a good article on wobbly kittens on the FAB web site explaining how wobbly kittens come to be born .

We had a trip to the man in the white coat today. Lois and her babies were very good in the car.

Lois` babies now have names, partly thanks to Judith.

Womble (Judith`s fab idea) is a black boy, very round and cuddly at the mo.

Lulu is a black and white girl, the nosey one.

William (after an ancient cat a friend fostered, and who used to come to me for his hols) is also a black boy.

Lottie is a tortie-white girl.

The reason for the vet trip was to see if what Judith, Angie and I have come to suspect over the last few days is true.  We have kept this under out hats until it was official.

The vet confirmed that both William and Lottie have CH, similar to cerebal palsy in humans. Lottie is moderately affected with a marked head sweep especially when she is focusing on something. William (much like his namesake, Wibbly William) has a slight head shake. Lottie is able to feed, has started to play with Lulu, and has been the most mobile and active of them all.

We dont know what the future will hold for them, especially Lottie. Have decided to wait and see how she develops in the next few weeks before even thinking of what sort of special home she and William will need. As the vet said so honestly, "she will either thrive or break your hearts."

Lois` babies are 3 weeks old today :Luv2:

To mark the occasion they are now all downstairs in the sitting room on a coffee table in the corner for full-on socialising. They are very curious of everything and taking it all in.  Here`s where the fun begins.

Judith came to visit them for the first time tonight and declared them 1 - big boys and girls; 2 - scrummy!

Lois then went for a walk upstairs to stretch her legs and take a break. Judith declared her eyes beautiful and huge

Souffle - they do seem to be changing colour daily! I think it will be a few weeks yet until their true makings come out. The tortie white girl is mainly black on her back, but the ginger patches are spreading a bit.

Day 13 and their eyes are open! One tried to climb out of the box this morning so wont be long until they are fullly mobile and into everything. What fun!

Got the camera out again today, and quickly took these.

Lois is very hard to get a good one of as she keeps walking towards the camera, purring all the time. She is such a sweetheart, and has the most amazing huge green eyes.

Her babies are doing well too. She is a fab mum. Another week in the relative quiet of my bedroom, then downstairs for socialising etc. Dont know what the dogs will make of it all, not had such babies here in quite a while.

Lois` kittens are a week old today, and seem to be growing before my eyes!

I think there are 2 boys and 2 girls, but not the best person to sex kittens as Angie will confirm. Lois is being so good, not over fussy but caring when she needs to be. She is such a lovely mum, I`m sure they will grow to be super little kittens.

Lois did leave them rather rapidly when I appeared with some fresh chicken for her last night, she does love her grub!

Will try to take more photos this week.

Thanks for your kind words and thoughts. We ALL slept much better last night due to the cooler weather! Loisis doing all the right things, and her babies seem settled and thriving.

My friend, who has offered to foster in an emergency (and we all know there are plenty of those at the mo!) came to see them briefly today. She was amazed at how tiny babies are and how much mum does for them. Lois is such a star!

I'm sorry to hear that one of the little ones has passed on. I always think mother knows best and she has a special sense perhaps that tells her that something is just not right with a baby and she lets them travel to the bridge. Perhaps she understands this is best and the others will then have a better chance. This happens with hamster mums a lot.
Play well at the bridge little one with your sibling and those that have gone before.

Sad to say not a good night last night. Lois kept pushing the smallest - a black and white girl -away from her and the little mite was  becoming cold and hungry by 11 pm. I kept warming her up and putting her back with mum for nursing (which she did intermittently) until 4 am, by which time it was obvious she was less strong. I gave her some climicat, and warmed her up again before settling her into the middle of the others. Sadly the little one kept moving away from the others who were settled lovely with mum. Despite all the nursing she passed quietly away about 9 this am, in the company of her mum and siblings.

She and the other little one who passed away were much smaller than the others, and it woud have always been an uphill struggle for them. They tried so hard bless them.
