think anamatronic is pretty good, and Ana for short is nice.

My first reaction when I saw Kai's piccie was to wonder if he were a "wild" cat if you know what I mean.

He is simply spectacular Linda.  Tell me.  Do you just stand around all day gazing at him?  I think I would!  Congratulations.  Hope he fits in well with the rest of the tribe.

Wow  :wow:  I go away for two weeks and come back to find you have smuggled ANOTHER Bengal into your house - jealous, jealous, jealous  ;D  He's gorgeous and I love the name Kai, that's my friends' little boys name and she is more of a dog person so I will have great delight in telling her there is now a Kai the cat!

Have spotted a worrying trend though Linda, you have the 3 L's  - Lubo, Lenny and Loki; 1 N - Nova and now a K - Kai...  (I am going somewhere with this so stick with me)  K L M N.  What's missing?!  You need an 'M' bengal to complete the set, just a thought  ;)

CC, bengals are derived from mating the ALC (Asian Leopard Cat) to a bengal (well today anyway).  Anything before a 4th generation is referred to as foundation which in effect means early generation.  You can have the following:

F1 - parent is ALC
F2 - grandparent is ALC
F3 - great grandparent is ALC
F4 - great great grandparent is ALC

Kai is F1 which simply means he is 1st generation bengal and his dad is an Asian Leopard Cat.  Unfortunately all males F1 and F2 are sterile CC.  Females are not and it is those which are used to further the bengal breeding programme.  Send me a PM if you want more info  :)

Thanks CC & Suzanne.  He is adorable and has spent the night on a blanket at the side of my bed  :Luv:

Suzanne - Yep all F1 males are sterile however young Kai will still need to be neutered when he comes of age to prevent spraying.

Cor blimey - you kept that one quiet, Linda!

:congrats:  on the new addition - he's a very fine looking young man!  :Luv:

Is it true that F1 males are often sterile?  Or is that just a myth?

Hi Sam - yes Kai might be a little bigger but not much.  An asian leopard cat is not huge - if you google you should find some pics.

Stitchy will be just fine  :)

Linda, as he has more "wild" cat in him will he be bigger than your boys or will he be a similar size!    Poor Stitch must be wondering whats going on  ... all these bengals moving into her house! LOL

Thanks Desley, very helpful.

Soooooooo Kai is a wild bengal then   I wonder what Nova and the others are gonna say about that!

Kai is the son of an Asian Leopard Cat and his mother is an SBT so yes as an F1 he has a higher % of wild blood in him than say Nova does.  However F1's are incredibly loving pets and Kai will fit in with my family wonderfully  ;) I am thrilled to have him home with me.

SBT is stud book tradition and is 4th generation onwards. F1 Bengals have an Asian Leopard Cat parent.

F1 is First Generation Gill - most Bengals are F4 and further, which is where I 'think' SBT comes from. So, F1's are closer to the wild ancestors than most pet Bengals.

Wow - didn't think you would have gone for an F1 Bengal, i didn't think they were placed into pet households?

Thanks Des.  There is a lot of speculation surrounding the F1 however these bengals can live very well with SBT's and are very loyal and much loved parts of the families they join.

Hi Everyone.  Thought I would share some pics of the latest addition to my bengal family.  This little man is an F1 bengal and the son of Gayzette Apollo (ALC).  He is very very special.  Enjoy.
