An update on whats' happening and some photos.

I have been in contact with a vets in Kabul. "Tigger House" and hope to have Gizmo down for check up and Jabs etc in the next couple of days.

I am attaching some photos that where taken by one of the guys here.

Anyone who takes time out to help an animal is OK in my book,especially in a war zone like Afghanistan!!!

This is heart warming - perhaps we need to start thinking of her future = getting her injections etc so she can travel at short notice and come back to the Uk with little issue

She is beautiful  :Luv: she does look alot 'cleaner' now from the original photo bless her.

I am waiting for 12pm so I can go out and send off care package #1.

'little one' reminds me of my Cheese as a kitten - she's still a bit too small for her ears  :evillaugh:

I am sure you have lots of potential names for her but I think something positive would be nice to represent how lucky she is to have been found by you and your pals - 'Hope' for example

Carol has asked me to post the photos I have taken here for you all.

Thanks for all the help you are sending, but please do not put yourselves to any serious financial outlay on this. I can afford the food and things, but simply do not have them available here, hence the original request.

The kitten (as yet unnamed) will not be going short of anything.

There is no plan to bring her back to the UK as yet,( early days), but it is an option should that requirement be needed. Such as all of us having to leg it out of here at short notice. But as I have been here three years already, I don't see it happening in a hurry.

Yep :) Big  :thanks: to Cazzer for cross-posting as I don't often get time to look on CC.

I was thinking of contacting Whiskas or Felix to see if they would like to bulk-donate (obviously for the publicity  :tired:) but when I was reading about the free package thing to certain BFPO addresses it specifically said  that although you can send up to 2kg free that there was NO large parcel service to Op Herrick so don't think there's any way a job lot could get there even if the companies were interested  :shy:

Well, most of us know what my finances are like at the moment :evillaugh: But I'm applying to the discretionary fund at college and should I get anything I'm happy to spend a couple of quid and send a box :shy:

It's made me a bit emotional too, so much generosity for one little cat and I guess it shows our support for our troops too, I imagine having the little one to care for distracts them from the realities of where they are a little bit.

I was thinking today, the little kitty has no idea how much love is being sent to her from overseas! :hug:

Is it wrong that the threads here and on CC make me feel a bit emotional with all the generosity? I can imagine a huge pile of packets arriving for Don with 'cat food' and 'gift' on them and that makes me smile.

I saw on CC someone mentioned baby wipes, my 1st box isn't sealed so I will add a packet in. Baby wipes are one of my 'essential' items that I have a huge stockpile of  ;D

I hope so cos I did! You have to be truthful on customs forms but I was trying to think of a different way to word it but at the end of the day there's no law against sending pet foods overseas and that is the 'gift' that's been requested.

Gizmo is a lucky little girl to have been found and rescued, I bet she'll love her very own bowl!  :Luv2:

Helen are we OK to write it contains cat food?

I have two packets ready to post tomorrow with some dry food, some tins (I didn't realise how little 2kg would be!) a bowl, some toys ...I was trying to think of what might not be thought of to send which is why I am going to send a lightweight bowl.

I passed the story onto a lady at work who loves cats she said she will send something too, and she passed it on to a lady she is friends with who apparently spends a fortune feeding ferals when she goes on holiday so will likely send something.

I posted my packages today too, they weigh them to check they're under 2kg and print out a free postage sticker that goes on them. You also have to fill in a customs sticker (which they provide) but that literally involved ticking gift, writing what it was and then signing it so took seconds.

That happened to my Dad when I was on Desert Storm/Op Granby in 1989,My dad was sending me a comfort package to me & the p*llock at the post office argued that BFPO 647,Bharain,did'nt exist! :censored:
Eventually Dad was able to get thru to said p*llock...maybe that's why the PO counters have a glass partition... :evillaugh:
