We have recently had a software upgrade so I've asked her to look into you not being able to click on profiles, I presumed the PM function might have been disabled for brand new members but thinking about it now it could be unintentional

If you mean 'PM' as in private message I think you have to have a set number of posts before that function is enabled, this is done to protect members from spammers.
