Apparently her BP was fine and stayed relatively normal.. But she did take a while to recover and we had 3 vets involved. Luckily we got her done as she was just coming into season

How was the low BP overcome for her spay? Interested to know how they achieved a good result with her condition

I certainly agree with quality over quantity (from memory they were already indoor cats?) but it would seriously worry me if she could virtually give up outside and not be found  :shy: so many things outdoors that are outside of our control  :scared:

We do realise that but after talking to vetsa and welfare, we think she should have as normal as time as possible in whatever she wants to do.. More quality then time really as she may not be a very long lived puss cat. Its more the care thats that we are going for..

She has a compromised heart, that works twice as hard then normal..

Lovely they are up for homing together and great she had her op, how did the vets get around her probs?

If she were chased by a dog or spooked by the bin men and ran would she have big problems with that exertion?

Smoo & Jillybean special home due to heart condition REHOMED!!!!!
« Reply #1 on: March 01, 2010, 18:58:49 PM »
Smoo and Jilly bean are in the care of Canterbury CP..(Kent)  Smoo has now been spayed and has recovered well.. IMPORTANT A QUIET HOME NEEDED, SMOO CAN GO OUTSIDE. THE LESS STRESS THE BETTER!
We will rehome outside of area if the right home is found for these two. But only within a reasonable distancefrom us)  Homecheck and guarantee that you would be willing to give Smoo a nice happy home for as long as she is well. Our vets are willing to speak to any new "owner" they must stay together. Get in touch if you wish to know more.
The following is the piece written by our fosterer taking care of these 2.

Smoo & Jillybean (photo) are two beautiful tabby cats that came into our care in January when their owner moved away from the area and could not take them with her.  They are sisters, between one and two years old, who have lived as indoor cats for the whole of their lives so far.  They are both healthy looking and have obviously been well cared for and much loved but Smoo has a serious medical problem.  She has a very serious heart murmer which means that, although she looks healthy, major stress events,  could be life threatening for her.  Although medication will not help Smoo and is not therefore necessary, these medical problems mean that it may be difficult to find a home for them both

Both cats were incredibly nervous when they came to our foster home.  They spent two weeks hiding under the bed in our spare room.  Slowly they started to come out to be stroked and petted for small periods of time.  Both can be extremely affectionate and love to roll over and have their tummies stroked, but it took some time to win their trust.  Smoo in particular was very nervous and, at first, would only come out once Jilly had proved it was safe!

Now, after three or four weeks, the cats seem much more at home and we have been able to find out more about their personalities.  Jilly is a real lap cat who will rush over to claim her place on your lap as soon as you sit down.  If a lap isn't available she likes to curl up on the back of the sofa near the radiator and stretch out.  Smoo is still more nervous and startles easily at loud noises or sudden movements.  She loves to be strok ed and made a fuss of but only sits on your lap when she is feeling really secure.  She prefers to sleep under the sofa or in a quiet corner and sometimes seems to find it hard to relax.

The sisters have always lived together and it would be hearless to separate them, especially as Smoo seems to rely on Jilly to help her feel safe and confident.  We are looking for someone to give a home for the pair who will be able to accept Smoo's medical condition, live with the potential consequences and provide an environment that is compatible with her lifestyle.  Whoever does so will be rewarded with the company of two very lovable cats.  If you can think of anyone who might be suited to them please get in touch

Both cats are now spayed, chipped and will be fully vac before rehoming!
