Wee update on Hiro for you all - very pleased to be able to report that he has left us this week to join his new forever home.  He has done brilliantly well and turned into a big cuddle bum - true little teddy bear.

We got the following update from his new pawrents yesterday;

"Hi Paul & Sarah,

Thought it was time to update you on Hiro's progress.

After a shy start and lots of time spent behind the couch, he is really coming out of hs shell and his real character is shining through.

What a beautiful boy he is and how lucky are we that he chose us :-)

He is starting to love being brushed and lets me spend ages grooming him and then sfruts his stuff to show how handsome he is.

Also, jumps up beside me on the couch and sleeps there by my side.

He was only eating a little bit for a couple of days but has now rediscovered his appetite and a love for chocolate, which i promise i wont encourage.

He now has the freedom of the lounge, kitchen and hall and is really nosey, so is enjoying discovering all the new sights and smells.

What a total joy he is and Donna and me thank you so much for letting him come to share our home."

lol not sure Sasa would appreciate that though Gill!  lol

Paul is dancing around and on a high today as he managed to get Hiro to push his head right into his hand and close his eyes and even a very faint purr!!!   :tired:

I watched paul with him a little later on and he even rolled on his side and showed Paul his tummy while having head rubs.  :Luv2:   :wow:

Hiro is definitely more relaxed but such a long way to go. Somehow I really don't think the story we were told adds up at all. He clearly enjoys affection and wants it so much but his fear gets in the way.  Perhaps we will never know exactly what made him SO fearful but hopefully we can help him cope with life and improve his confidence and trust in humans.

Certainly at the moment we fully expect Hiro to be with us for the next 3-6 months.

Well Hiro made a huge leap yesterday and really made our day.  Best present we could have had.   :Luv2:

He actually let Paul pett him on the head!!!!  :wow:

Granted there was a turkey lure but the interesting thing was that the turkey was on the floor of his pen and he still walked to paul and head butted his hand for affection and pushed his head into his hand.  This from a cat whose owners have not been able to pet him since he was a tiny kitten?!?!?!!!

He is still VERY terrified of everything but at least this is a glimmer of what lies ahead for this fella and it gives us hope that with lots of time, patience and understanding he WILL come round.

We even had a repeat performance this morning with Hiro actually pushing his head into Pauls hand for head rubs and even closed his eyes!

Such a promising move by this wee fella and hopefully a sign that he is beginning to trust.  :Luv2:

Hiro is making slight improvement and has started to move in his pen... well sit up and stand and lay back down again when you are in the room.  Stil better than we had.  He is a little better with me but still seems to prefer Paul.

One thing is very clear that this is going to be a LONG slow road for Hiro but we'll give him the time and support he needs to get there.

Wouldnt say he had any Persian in him, but he is stunning, such a shame he has been let down so badly by people though. Good luck in his rehabilitation.

Thanks guys and JS for the name options but this wee fella came in with the name of Hero!!  not quite sure where they got that one from to be honest but we have decided to stick with it to be consistent for this wee fella. Though we have decided to change the spelling to Hiro!   ;)

lol  Jedward is coming... I can feel it in my waters..... lol  ;D   ;)

Somehow I don't think the story adds up on what we have been told about this wee fella.  Aint that a shock!  :tired:

He is not just scared but petrified of people and is very very fear aggressive.  Reminds us so much of Skye n KT when they first arrived. Though at least we knew the story with them.  He does seem to be a bit more tolerant of Paul, but me.... well I just have to walk in the room and he literally freezes and shakes from head to toe.

Really don't know what this poor lad has been through but one thing is for sure he is going to be with us for a long time if the weekend is anything to go by. Certainly don't think we can necessarily rely on information given time will tell but its going to be a long road for poor wee Hiro.  :(   >:(

Still not entirely sure what he could be in honesty. Had a look at the Somali but not 100% convinced.  Regardless he is one very beautiful little boy. We just have to teach him how to trust and love again.  :Luv2:

And again....

Alfredo - Christmas elf.

Casper - one of the three kings who visited the Christ child in the bible.

Celyn - meaning 'holly'.....

I think Sarah has enough names to be going on with - a mere 71 from the auction thread to get through  :naughty:

 :Luv: :Luv: Stunning!

And again....

Alfredo - Christmas elf.

Casper - one of the three kings who visited the Christ child in the bible.

Celyn - meaning 'holly'.

Christian - 'A Christian' - as a lot of people celebrate Christmas as the anniversary of the birth of Christ, this might appeal to you if you are more traditional.

Christopher - 'A Christian'.

Claus - from Saint Nicholas, or 'Santa', the bringer of presents.

Dion - from the Greek God of wine, intoxication and partying. Good if you have Greek roots.

Ealhdun - Christmas elf.

Eldan / Elden - Christmas elf.

Epifanio - the season which follows Christmas.

Euell - 'Yule'. This one is a good one if you want a festive name but aren't particularly religious.

Gabriel - from the Angel Gabriel. Gabriel was the Angel who visited Mary to let her know she was pregnant with the baby Jesus.

Ingel - meaning 'Angel'.

Jasper - one of the three kings who visited the baby Jesus in the bible.

Jesus

Joesph - the carpenter, Mary's husband.

Malachi / Malakai - God's messenger. It can also mean 'Angel'.

Michael - the Angel of love and families.

Moore - from Clement Clarke Moore, who was the author of 'T'was the Night Before Christmas.'

Natal - Jesus' birth.

Natalio - masculine version of Natal and Natalie, meaning Jesus' birth.

Nicholas - from Saint Nicholas, or 'Santa'.

Noel - 'Christmas Time'. It can also be spelt Noell and Nowell.

Robin - 'Robin Red Breast', the Christmas bird.

Snowden - 'snow'.

Tannon - from the Christmas carol, 'O Tannenbaum'.

Wynter - 'Winter Time'.

Yule - the winter festival. Great for those who are non-religious, more spiritual than religious, or pagan.

« Reply #1 on: December 17, 2009, 16:27:17 PM »
This little fella has just come in about an hour ago and is just simply stunning!  Going by his face shape and eyes, coat and build we are wondering if he is a cross persian?

anyone any other thoughts?

Little Hero is scared of his own shadow and has comefrom a home where he felt under So much strain he hid under the bed all day and lashed out when they went near him. Badly matted but need to let him destress first and settle in.

Letting him settle just now but had to show off this little stunner.   :Luv2:  he just had to be ginger didn't he!?!?!  lol
