Yep, I was so upset I cried. Even though I'd only met him briefly I felt for the poor guy and if we'd been able to I'd have offered to foster him. At least at this place they seriously tried with him instead of giving up like some of the larger rescues.

I'm bumping this thread up because this rescue has some gorgeous cats in at the moment. Check out Sammy, what a lovely lad. :)

I started a thread for him; he deserved it as much as any cat that lived in a loving home.

Called yesterday - O' Malley had to be let go as he stopped eating and all his system started shutting down. They'd struggled to get him to eat for a while, but it was decided the poor old lad had tried and had enough.

O' Malley is still trundling along. I called again today and although he's still having eating issues they feel he's doing pretty well. Will try and get a picture of him sent to me.

He's such a wonderful character.

Developed a huge soft spot for the wobbly old lad. I can't afford another cat at the moment (especially another OAP needing regular medication!) but I hope someone else sees what a sweetheart he is. :scared:

Update on O' Malley - just called and they've managed to find something that makes him eat. Apparently, the fish they were heating as we left was a hit and he's had some tuna. :)

I was going to say that JS but didn't like, I can't bear to hear the dogs barking and although they are really well cared for it's still not the same as having their own home is it  :shy:

I was nearly in tears at one point, I have to admit. And it was one of the dogs that got to me - the way it was looking at me made me feel like bawling like a baby.... :shy:

I have to admit though I find it hard going to rescues and seeing all the animals and I just want to help them all and take them all home  :(

What a lovely place :) Sending lots of good vibes for little O Malley.
Our local rescue is Mayhew and some times when i am feeling down i go and spend time with thier garden(Feral) cats, they have a beautiful garden and there is a cat called Johnney aka 5 toes which comes and sit with you. :Luv:He loves Ck!

;D They are lovely there JS, we have been a few times to take bric-a-brac and stroke the cats.  Infact I contacted them recently about an older cat with kidney probs but one of the fosterers had adopted him.

They were on the Paul O'Grady show recently but I missed it!

I will make a point of dropping in and taking some food for the cats

It's called Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and the cattery was outstanding! The long term cats are allowed to free roam and the walkway has beds and food to one side for them.

There was a wonderful skinny, one eyed black polydactyl cat in there. He had no name on the pen, so I said "I'm going to call you O Malley because you look like one." An assistant came out and my cousin said "Excuse me, what's this cats name?" And the assistant responded "O Malley..." Weird stuff, eh? Apparently, O MAlley has kidney failure and has refused food for the last two days so they hand fed him chicken and were microwaving some fish for him. Please send him some positive vibes - he's a lovely cat.

Also, as an aside the sanctuary is in desperate need of cat and kitten food donations so if anyone's in that area I'm sure they'd be grateful for whatever can be spared.
