Unbloodybelievable  :censored:  :censored:  If they are worried about the effects of Diabetes and cat bites, why on earth are they considering getting a kitten  :censored:  Surely a kitten can be more harmful when they scratch or bite.......hopefully they won't pass a homecheck if they try for a kitten and the cat gets a loving home, poor babe.

Poor thing. I hope a solution is found that isn't detrimental to anyone involved.

There are too many serial pet owners out there.

You are right, so many times people ring me for help and say I didn't want another but they were going to drown it or something just as bad. I think until people realize that there are not enough homes for the cats and kittens  and stop allowing their cats to breed things will not improve.

They swap pets like some people swap mobile phones - they're just like any other possession.

I agree. I also have a few reptiles and if you go on a reptile classified page you regularly see ".....lizard for sale, will swap for..... snake." I hate it, because once I take on an animal, they become part fo the family.

Did they give you any details about this cat, Ela? Aside from the fact it had gone behind the fridge?!

No, as posted the son got the cat from someone who had   too many animals and needed to downsize the number of animals. The reason I mentioned Mansfied CP was that the cat came from Mansfield and there is a CP that covers the Mansfield area, so they could have sorted out the problem.

As the cat was firmly behind the fridge and I would not be able to find suitable accommodation immediately as previously stated I advised to   just place the tray food and water in the kitchen and make sure your dog is not in there alone. I also told the caller to ring the Mansfield shelter today and explain the situation, however,I did say if they is no joy to contact me immediately. God only knows where it would go though.

What was the outcome of the call, Ela? Poor cat, dumped in a new place and expected to just get on with the family dog!

How happy was I last night, The music came on and the results of Dancing on Ice were to be announced and the phone rings.

Caller: Come and get this cat.
Me: What is the problem says I with one two eyes and one ear on the TV.
Caller: the cat has just bit me and I and my wife are diabetic. (Yes, I do know that can lead to problems).
Me: Something must have happened to make the cat do that.
Caller: my son brought me the cat from Mansfield (there is a Cats Protection covering that area) today as someone has too many animals and needs to downsize the number of animals. He handed it to me and I put it to my dog to introduce them and the cat bit me and not the dog.
Me: Well in all honesty it is not the cats fault it doesn't know you our your dog with hindsight you would have put the cat in a different room and introduced them gradually.
Caller: I know
Me: Well I cannot do anything at this time; I suggest you place the cat in a room with a tray, food and water and then we will see what we can do.
Caller Oh! it is behind  the fridge now,  It will be there for 3 days.
Me: In that case just place the tray food and water in the kitchen and make sure your dog is not in there alone.

Then what I think most of the problem was came out , he said you see my son said he would bring us a kitten and we want a kitten and this is a cat. Shame.

Again all this was caused because someone a while ago thought they had a good home for their cats kitten,or at least a home because they did not want it.
