Yep! Takes me 45 mins door to door from my place in North London to my sisters in Beaconsfield.  I love that!

Takes me an hour to get to work and I only live 7 miles from work in town...

I do love it here, and you can be in London in 1/2 if the mood takes you

Aw Stu you'll enjoy it as a tourist.

Have to admit, I'd fly too. I drove that once from London to Stirling. I travelled the day after the clocks changed and was meeting the lady from our B&B at 9pm. I was so panicked as I was still a good hour away from Stirling at 9pm. Got there, real apologetic and so freaked out that we'd kept her waiting and she said we were right on time. I was flumoxed for the whole night. I was sure I'd arranged for 9pm and thought I was losing my marbles. My then OH was confused as well. He never wore a watch. Wasn't til breakfast when I apologised (again) for being a bit late and the landlady asked me if breakfast at 7:30 in London was considered late..  :evillaugh:  We swore a) we'd fly next time, clearly the 14 hour drive addled our brains and b) we'd use the radio to tell us the right time!  :evillaugh:

I still love it but definately wouldn't want to live there again

Ergo why I am leaving it. Still love it but don't really want to live here anymore, so busy and congested.

However, wherever I may be I shall be going I think.

I don't know if we'd go to be honest.

I hate London, travelling into Islington every day takes its toll and I hate it.

That's the other thing. Last weekend, a friend of OH wanted us to go to to an exhibition in London as she had passes but OH said 5 times a week is more than enough as it is.

I can't believe it's 5 years in October - where has it gone. That rotten B&B stole my life!

I never did hear what happened to your B&B  :shify:

I hated doing it but suffered it as OH had put so much into it financially etc. When I finally confessed how much I hated doing it, OH said I should stop as the amount of money it made compared to the grief and inconvenience wasn't worth it. It was when we had closed over xmas to put the new kitchen in so basically, I just didn't open again  :evillaugh:

I used to go there every saturday as a teenager - sad but true, it was a place to meet boys!

I would never in a million years have thought it was a good place for meeting boys. How unusual .. but clever!

When I started work, I lived in Dagenham and the fares were really expensive on my meagre salary so I used to get the bus to & from Oxford Circus every Day. I had to get a bus by 7am to get in for 9am and usually got home at 7.30pm - I can understand why OH gives me so much grief about commuting to London every day now  :-[

I worked in the City (Liverpool Street) right up until 7/7,  my company then moved us outside of London and to this day I have no idea how I managed to do one end of the met line to the other end everyday for some many years.   I dont mind London for the occasional evening out but I do like escaping back to the country.

Ahhh, I love all the touristy things. I could never, ever live there. I honestly don't know how people manage it (I'm a country girl at heart, love cities to visit but would never/could never live in or near one). I go to London a number of times every year and have never had even the slightest the urge to live there.

It's a shame really as it contains my most favourite place on Earth .. The Natural History Museum  :Luv:

I suppose I wouldn't mind it as a tourist - or maybe scared that I will want to stay?  :shify:

I like the West End and the touristy things but find anything beyond that the worst all all worlds.

Oh my one benefit from being SE way is that London isnt tht far!! But i think staying overnight would be great... Any body who finds some great deals pls let me know!!

Still 75 Miles or so?

Travelodge Islington (Kings Cross really) normally has some cheap deals. I am London-phobic so unlikely to go.
