No just wanted to know. Maybe if I find a kitten the home check wouldnt be a problem cos my mum would be over joyed anyway.

Yes, we always do a home visit and we would never give a kitten or a cat to someone to give to someone else for a surprise. Sorry I expect it is not what you want to hear.

I have a collapsible  pen in

We probably have about a dozen, (I know I have 2) spread around different fosterers. Really they are for accident cases, but we can't risk another vet saying yes the will PTS, so although not ideal it is better than dead and I will get it into a pen ASAP.

Ela can I ask do home checks need to be done in all cases?

I was looking at getting a kitten for my mum (yes she does want 1) but it would be a surprise for her birthday. I'm asking because I sort of know the lady from our local CP and she has been in my house. She helped me out last year and loaned me a trap to catch this stray, and she knew the stray was going to my mum's and she was happy with that, so she would obviously know she is more than capable of looking after a cat and that it would be a safe environment, my mum's cats are all indoor as well.

I would like to go down the rescue root for finding a kitten but wouldn't want to ruin the surprise and thats the issue of the home check.

Hope this hasn't made you mad again lol

Ela I have long since given up wasting energy on getting mad.

Where will it all end, the answer is it wont. Thats why the Donna`s of this world have a dog crate in the living room, I have a collapsible  pen in my kitchen and every  cat pen outside full, as well as the 8 cats roaming round the house and I have just had a call to take in A mum and her 4x4week old kittens thankfully they wont be here till Saturday so it gives me time to stretch my elastic walls. :)

My Vet has just rung to ask if I can take a cat in, the owner has rung them and asked how much it will be to PTS her 3 yr old cat. Apparently a specialist told her she needed to 'get rid'. My vet said that they would not put a healthy cat to sleep and told her to ring me. She said the cat had been on my list of cats  waiting to come in for ages and that she had just rung me and I told her we still had no room. Now unless my memory is so bad, I cannot recall her ringing me today and if she had and told me the cat would be PTS it situation would have been solved space or no space. Another thing is the cat is not even on my list of cats waiting to come in. So someone is having a figment of the imagination and I know it is not me. Anyway, I have contacted one of the fosterer's and for now the little one will have to go in a large dog crate in Donna's front room. Where will it all end.
