chiana has been known to steal fluffy bunny ears from next doors gran child

My daughter has a fluffy bag in the shape of a rabbit, this has to be hiden from my Lyla as she well em nicks it and likes to pull the fur out of it lol she seems to do this with other furry things, so I think its just the fur.

what i meant to add is we has purple, green, and blue fluffy toys but she doesnt go for them she only likes the pink

As peeps have said, cats can see in colour but not as well as we can.  It's to do with the structure of their eyes - the very things that make a cat able to see better than we do in diminished light reduce his ability to see colours as well as we do.  It's explained really well here: http://www.whataboutcats.com/vision.html

I solved it by attaching some green and yellow striped insulation tape around the outside of the flap

What a inventive idea fluffy

Yes I've also heard they can see some colours but not others - in particular they can't differentiate between oranges/reds/browns/blacks particularly well.

To me this explained why Milly couldn't work out how to get in through the catflap but could get out ok.  From the outside she would headbutt the side of the flap not the flap itself - it was all brown on brown, and less light inside meant that the flap was not clearly different.  I solved it by attaching some green and yellow striped insulation tape around the outside of the flap to provide a better contrast, and from that point on she used the flap no problem  ;D  Once she'd got the hang of it I took the tape off and now she's fine with it.

I am convinced they can see a limitd rage... when he was still feral Indy knocked over a red bucket that scared him.... for weeks after we brought him into the house, if he saw anything red (toys, clothes, on TV, cushions) he would flee and hide

I've read that they can distinguish colours (especially red) but the receptors in the back of thier eyes are no where near as prolific as in ours...

That might explain why he's got a preference for it!

I think they do see some colours but not as wide a range as humans.

Mine have multi same toys as in balls, spirals, pipe cleaners etc but won't play with some colours yet will with other colours.

A friend thought I was crazy when I said 'he won't play with that colour, he prefers red'. When I threw the red one & he chased it she was so stunned.

What is your cats fav colour, that is if they 'do' see colour?
