When my daughter was about 3 and had her first cat, Lucky, I used to call him a little black bu**er . . . . Realising this wasnt very clever(!), especially when she repeated it, I pretended I had called him her little black BROTHER! It seemed to work as they were almost inseperable. Hiya,

I call Alfie "Elf" or "Elfy" a lot because with his pointed "water tap" ears, slanted oriental-like eyes, pointed face and white colour her reminds me of an....., erm!...., well!......, er!....., um!......, an "Elf" really. Alfie is, of course, the diminutive of the Anglo Saxon name Alfred meaning "Elf Council" so that, by total coincidence, ties in pretty well. I also occasionally call him my "Rascally-Rascal" cat because of his highly developed knack of getting into trouble and also "pink nose" and "big soldier".

The Anglo Saxon name Frankie meaning "honest" which is derived from the German name Frank really suits his gentle, trusting, bumbley character so well. Frankie is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) sort of a cat, on first appearance he's a gentle laid-back giant of a cat who loves nothing better than a snooze in front of a warm radiator or on "his" sheepskin rug, a cuddle stretched out on a lap and some nice grub and that's him too a tee. I call him my "Big, Black, Woolly Bear" cat . Mr. B.B.C (Big Black Cat)and occasionally my "Wussy Pussy" as he will do anything to avoid hassle or conflict and so loves the quiet, gentle life.

Gizmo had many names - he was originally Isambard Kingdom Brunel (not our choice!)Due to the "Gremlins" film being popular at that time my daughter renamed him Gizmo.
Someone said he looked like milk had been spilled over him, so he became Gizmo Musli (my daughters spelling of muesli - she wasnt very old!) then he added Ninny, cos he was!

A friend always called him Bilbo Baggins as he used to like getting into her bag.
